Hello everyone,

I just joined today because I need the motivation and encouragement to lose some weight. I am 40 year old female with diabetes. I am in good health. It seemed like I went to bed and woke up and it was hard to lose weight. I always would get started with good eating habits and working out, but never really had to worry about gaining weight until recently. I am assuming because I have hit the 40 year old mark is the reason. I am excited that I found this board and hoping I meet some friends that can help me reach my goal. I would like to lose between 15 and 20 pounds.

Welcome. What type of diabetes do you have? Is it controlled with diet or insulin?

I don't know if 40 is some magical age that makes it harder to lose weight. It really wasn't for me...I was older than that when I put on weight. I'm 49 now and have found that adding physical activity to my life is the biggest factor in weight loss for me. (BF too...he's always been slender, until he moved to a desk job from a physically active job he's put on about 20 pounds)

Hi Judy B,

I've been diabetic since age 5. So, that is considered type 1 diabetes. God has truly been good to me. I've never been in the hospital for the disease since diagnosed. It just seems that I always was able to lose weight fairly well until recently. I do know that working out is the key and that is why I signed up here. I need some support. :newbie:

Hey and welcome! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. The diaries are great for support and helping keep track of your progress. Also, do you have a plan as far as exercise?

So, you are unlucky enough to be diabetic but lucky enough to be in control of it. My brother in law is diabetic (type 1) and it seems he is frequently in crisis. It scares me to be around him because he has such frequent crises.

I'm sure there are others here that are more knowledgable than I (esp. on the topic of diabetic weight loss), but there is lots of great help here.

I do know that weight management is doubly important for diabetics. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Hi RadiantPebble,

I do have an exercise plan. I just started getting back in the groove of things. I've started walking with a weight vest and I also go to the gym. I love walking on the treadmill and the eliptical machines.

Thanks Judy B,

I am on my way... Just wondering how long will it take before I see some progess. Just like most wanting to see progress overnight. I do know that it will happen as long as I stick to it.

Thanks again,

Tammy

Lost 2 pounds so far!

Hey and welcome. :waving:

Thanks Queeny,

I am doing good! When I started this on last Sunday I weighed in at 158. I weighed myself on yesterday and I am at 156. :hurray:

Can someone tell me how to put my ticker on my signature? I tried and it did not work for me.

Thanks,

Tammy
