and just finding my feet. I used Optifast for 2 weeks prior to laprascopic band surgery. Then for 2 weeks after that. I lost 13 kgs.(28lbs)and I still use Optifast most days for at least one meal. I adore the chicken soup...and I jazz up all the shakes with ice and food flavourings, plus stuff like peanut butter and fruit...

Welcome, Teeli. I hope you find the forum helpful! :) I'm curious - do you plan on using the Optifast for life? Or is that just until the weight loss?

I'm curious - what are your starting stats: weight, height, age?

Hiya Stacy! Yes, I shall probably use Optifast throughout my life, just not every day maybe ..I find the shakes convenient in the summer, and not too bad in the winter , made with hot trim milk...and I love the soups. So, I don't find it a hardship to consume them! :)

I am 63... I was 136kilos(300lbs) in Feb this year- I am now 66lbs lighter.I am 5'3" tall.I have 3 different kinds of arthritis, which has meant treatment with various drugs over the last 10 years, prednisone being one that has been used on a regular basis. I also have congestive heart failure and high blood pressure...LOL..a walking disaster.

I used to be an active farmer, when I retired from farming and animal welfare duties with SPCA, my thyroid gland shut down, and it all went downhill from there.

Since beginning Optifast and having the band inserted, I am feeling so much better- I can exercise so much better, despite the pain of the different arthritises( in my knees and feet it is the osteo kind)...I use Walk At Home dvd's to get me going in the safety of my own home...and I am aiming at getting fit enough and thin enough to have double knee replacement surgery in the near future. This will cut a lot of the pain issues out and I will be able to exercise more.

The Band isn't a quick fix- it is just another tool in an arsenal of war against obesity, as is Optifast, and like any soldier in any war, I aim to use every tool and every weapon that will help me win it. :)

It sounds like you're on to a good system for you, Teeli - losing 30 kg is wonderful! Congratulations!

I wish you luck, though I don't think you'll need it. I have full confidence that you'll reach your goal!
