Greetings:

I'm 24 years old and am overweight. I'm 5'7" and weigh 235 (as of yesterday). My doctor used the "O" word for the first time. I havent always been this way. I used to be thin and a healthy weight. It changed when they put me on some meds and in the hospital a few years back. Now I cant seem to lose the weight. I guess the food calls to me in a way. I don't know. I know for the sake of my health I need to lose the weight. For a long time I didnt look overweight- so I could ignore it. Now I look like I'm a pregnant man. I can and will as long as I am willing to lose weight.

Hello Silver!

Welcome to the Boards!

I've had the same problem with medications. I have to take medications in the long term for a condition that I have. The meds give me a huge apetite and I ended up piling on loads of weight in the last few years.

Yes, it's easy to become obese. I was shocked when I measured my BMI and it came back with the result obese. I'm currently at 186lbs and 5ft tall so that is classed as obese in BMI terms.

Anyway, I joined the gym back in April and started a diet and have now lost 10lbs. My start weight was 196lbs. I keep a food diary and use a calorie counter which helps me keep track of what I eat.

I also find that exercising regularly at the gym it keeps me motivated not to overeat during the day as I don't want to undo all the hard work at the gym.

What is your plan to lose weight?

Good luck!

Thanks

I wanted to say a quick thanks for the welcome. I feel like I'm huge. It affects alot of areas in my life now and I have to change. Together we can do this, so I hear.

Thanks again
Silve
