New to the site, not to weight loss struggles

Hi, everybody. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 26 year old nursing student who is trying to get into shape. My motivation is mostly vanity (lol), but I'm also trying to be healthier and just feel better about myself. I currently weigh 240 lbs. right on the nose, with a BMI of 35. I have no goal weight in mind... I just want to lose enough to be within the healthy weight and BMI ranges and look hot at my sister's wedding next year!

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about stumbling upon this site... I look forward to posting and getting to know other posters.

Take care,
L.

It's nice to see someone not infatuated with the scale. :)

So how do you plan on 'getting hot'?

Yeah, the scale doesn't mean much to me. I've never been able to guess anybody's weight and am often shocked one way or the other when I find out his or her weight, so... I've come to the conclusion that it's just a number, in the end.

To answer your question... I'm going to try to get to the gym at least four times a week, more if possible. I alternate upper and lower body strength training and generally do 30 minutes of cardio, more if I'm feeling ambitious or have some good tunes playing. lol I've started my plan already and have seen changes in my body, but it hasn't been reflected on the scale yet. meh.

I'm also planning to try and eat better... lean protein, whole grains, good fats and lots of veggies and fruit; but that's a tricky one for me because of my tight student's budget...

Yea, eating 'right' certainly is more expensive than eating bad.

Sounds like you've got a solid plan there. What do you do in terms of resistance training. The 4-day, upper/lower split is my favorite.
