Hi Everyone, Ive been obese for most of my life ( Im 28 now). About two years ago I reached my highest weight of 475 pounds (Im 6'6") I then moved to Santa Cruz, a very active city, the beach, camping and hiking gave me the inspiration to start working out and eating better. In a year and a half I lost close to 100 pounds, I am currently around 380. I recently moved to a new city, Las Vegas baby!!! After not focusing on my weight loss goals for a couple of months due to moving, finding a job, and partying/trying to meet people I am focusing on my health again. I now workout six days a week, I do a small weightlifitng workout, followed by a hill program on the treadmill, I walk until the calorie count is min. 700 cal. usually around 40-50 minutes. I an going grocery shopping later and I am going to try and focus on rice, chicken, beef and veggies. If anyone else is in Vegas, or has any tips for a big guy to lose weight, please post or send me an e-mail.

Hi BigAdrian,
Congrats on already losing 100lbs, that's AMAZING!!! Just stick around these forums, there's a lot of help and information, and TONS AND TONS of support!!! Hope to keep seeing you around. :D

Wow, 100lbs is incredible! Welcome to the forums!

One of the best things I have done to keep losing weight was to cut out all the sugar from my diet. I don't completely ban it, but after a couple of weeks of no sugar, I stopped craving it. I haven't eaten chocolate or confectionary in over a month, and to my amazement I don't miss it.

I'm in Vegas as well

I'm in Vegas too, and new to this forum.
One suggestion- anytime you are on the strip, try to make it a small workout - that is, there is always the MILE around the Aladdin's desert passage shops, and the strip itself is SO long. There are always things (and people) to look at, so if you get bored with your workout, go for a strip walk!
Good luck, it sounds like you are doing great.

Thanks

Yeah, It's tough at first, but it gets a little easier as I go along. Thanks for the tip on sweets, I used to be a ice cream after dinner guy, but now its going a little better. I went grocery shopping and have some chicken marinating and some rice and veggies ready to cook tonight. I find that if I cook enough food for three days I eat better, and have less of a chance to overload. I also have some roomates that go to the gym with me once in a while. (Of course none of them are overweight, but its still fun) Id like to get together with all of the other Vegas wtloss people, and have a weekly meeting, and discuss how to still lose weight while living in Vegas(Diet coke with rum?).
