Hey there !

I came across this forum today via google after doing a bit of reading on diet and exercise. It's always great to brush up on things you think you already know.

A bit about myself.

I'm 25 and i've been overweight for about 2 years now. Previous to this i was quite fit. I would jog 10km most days, cycle, lift weights and do boxing. I was really fit and in great shape and i cry at the thought of the body i worked so hard for. I knew what it felt like to go into clothing stores and pick out anything i wanted to wear and i let it all go. Prior to that i lost about 25 Kg around 2002-2003. I wasn't unfit.. i just ate far too much and far too often.

Over the past 2 years i've stacked on about 30 Kg after someone very close to me committed suicide. This month my relationship of 4 years ended and that was the final straw.

This post isn't an "i'm starting today" thread as this is my 4th week of swimming but i have not been tracking what i eat until now. I'm back counting calories as of this week and have a clear goal and i'm going to achieve that.

I find it amusing that 4 weeks ago i started off in the pool at 4 laps and this week i'm doing 30 laps per day. I also take a casual walk in the evening to relax and ease down. I'm pretty happy with my exercise routine so far.

I signed up for the forum as moral support always helps to get you over the line and i hope i can provide some advice for others in the same struggle.

Not sure what else to say but if you can identify with eating a family sized block of chocolate a day then we may have a few more things in common even though i don't do that anymore i did for quite some time and oh how i miss it :p My brother always said even though i was fit and in shape on the outside on the inside i was still a fat person and we can have a laugh about that as it rings true.

Anyway, back to browsing the forum. Lots of interesting stories here !

Forget to mention. My current weight is 110 kg and my goal weight is 85 Kg within 6 or so months which i think is reasonable.

Hi! Welcome. It's nice to see another Aussie here. Your goal does sound very doable.

I started doing a little swimming recently too and was pleased with a change in what I could do - but it doesn't compare to yours!!!

I see you've started a diary. Great move!! :)
