New to the forum. Basically just starting out... again

Found & joined the forum a few days ago and decided that it was time for me to actually introduce myself.

Long story made short, like a lot of others, over time I had let myself go & consequently gained weight. About 16 months ago I decided to make some lifestyle changes. During that time not only did I change a lot of things in my diet & food intake, I tried adding more activity.
- I was having a lot of problems though with lack of energy & stamina.
- Last June went through a 2-day sleep lab & found out that I have some serious sleep problems & was put on a CPAP for sleep apnea as well as medicine to help me stay asleep restfully.
- In September I suddenly gained 20lbs although I had not changed anything. The doctor put me through stress tests, etc and it looked like I had some problems with the heart.
- In January I had a heart catheterization for both the left & right side of my heart. Thankfully it shows I have no blockage :)
I still have little energy & stamina is still low. But I have been seeing a difference lately; not much, but a little better.
- April 7th was my last doctor appt and as of last night it looks like I have actually lost approximately 18lbs since the appt.

I have started to use fitday again & plan to stick with it this time. No matter how trivial & small something seems to be I make sure to document it on the site there.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello
and good luck to those who are still working at losing weight & toning up
congrats to those who have accomplished losing weight & keeping it off

Congratulations on the weight loss and welcome to the forum. I'm an older user, but I haven't been on here in a year or so.

any who.. I hope to see you on here more often

Take care

Thanks :)

Honestly I was a little surprised, mainly because I have worked so hard over the last 16 months and have seen no results.... until now. Plus although I thought I had seen a little difference physically, I wasn't sure.

I haven't had a set of bathroom scales here at the house but finally got some this morning so now I can keep track of weight between doctors appts :)

I AM going to do it this time!
I have already exercised 40 minutes this morning... being this big the things I can do is limited some, but I figure that any stretching, leg lifts, squats, etc help. I am home almost 24/7, so even though I have only done 40 minutes so far I have the whole day ahead to do more exercise.
I keep my fitday website open on the PC all day long so I can document things right away and not forget anything.... activity or food intake.

Welcome to the forum!

You can definitely do it this time, if you feel like you need some motivation there is always someone here to talk to and if you make a weight loss diary, people are sure to comment and help if you need it. Plus there are articles and stories in the Before and after section which are rather inspiring!

Keep it up! :)

Srynxie,
Thanks :)
Yes, not only can I do it this time, I AM going to do it this time.
I have been keeping the journal on fitday, but I'll definitely think about doing on here as well.

I have been reading through the forums and trying to make additional lifestyles changes using tips/suggestions/etc I read about here. I have found one of my problems which I am trying to find a way around... fat that is in the creamer I use in my coffee. I use french vanilla flavor which has a generic brand. I'm not sure that the "fat free" or others have a generic.

Hopefully I'll be going to the lake to swim & exercise in a short time :)
