Hey everybody :) My name's Nicole and I'm new to this forum. In general, I have always been one for fitness my entire life- however I have struggled with my eating patterns. Lately I am trying to conquer a binge eat pattern that I have--so tips would be greatly appreciated. I get to 3 days of eating slowly during my meals-- and I can't seem to motivate myself to push on...I get stuck in a pattern of "what is the point?" as I feel like I will never be able to change my eating ways and I feel as though people have come to associate me as the way I am....does anyone have any motivation that would be of help for these situations? I am very good at controlling my diet-- and If only I believed in myself more I feel I would be able to achieve great results within my fitness. I am at loss though because I fall into a binge cycle, and get off my diet and regime for 2 or 3 days. I want to plan not to have a cheat day for at least 60 days, but I feel I would need incredible mental strength. I just need support to push on in my overall diet! thoughts would be appreciated!! Thank you!

Hello Nicole, Welcome to the forum. :)

Is your problem purely about eating speed, or do you have a weight problem as well? (You didn't mention your weight)

It's not so much about eating speed. The thing is, it takes some time to feel satisfied, so if you eat too fast you may be tempted to eat more and end up eating much more than you had planned to.

But, as far as I know, that is the only effect it has. You need to alter your the total of calories you consume to gain or lose weight.

I've never really worried about the speed I eat things (Except for family bugging me when I was a kid), but there are just some foods that i can eat incredibly fast. As an example, I could finish a huge dish of pasta in just around 3-5 minutes (I'm not exaggerating that time), and then there are things I just can't eat as fast. Stuff like apples or even salad consume a fair amount of time.

If you want support, you could try joining some of our challenges, or starting a diary.

As for the binge patter, It's not a good idea trying to cut everything for 60 days. That just frustrates you and you feel deprived. Why don't you try counting calories and working on moderation? You can still enjoy the stuff you like, just don't overdo it.

Good luck. :)
