Hello, my name is Kalene. I am a 21 year old female, I am about 5'5-5'6 and right now I weigh 187lbs. I started going to the gym today, I spent an hour there. I would like to work on losing upper body fat around my stomach, ribs, and back and also tone my thighs. I plan on going to the gym on M,TH,F's and Saturdays. I would like some advice on what to do to lose weight as quickly and effectively as possible, excerise and eating habits. My ultimate goal is to get to 150lbs and continue from there but I need to be at my goal by June, if possible. So if anyone has any tips or advice or suggestions on eating habits or excerises I should do , anything really, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

I'm sorry but you are doing this all wrong. First of all, why do you need to be at your goal by June? What happens then? Does the world end? Why can't you give yourself more time to ste up things more organically (nutrition and exercise plans) and allow yourself to actually develop healthy new habits?

Because your proposed way will just turn you into a frustrated hamster, spinning oyur little wheel, going nowhere - and this time next year (or probably even sooner) you will be here again, asking the same thing.

Ok, you came off as really rude. I said by June, IF POSSIBLE. No the world doesn't obviously end, smartie. I would just like to drop weight by June. And again, Captain Obvious I just wanted some advice and some tips. Not a rude person jumping down my throat.

Hi Kalene, specific goals are Great! Keep want you want in your mind and go for it. First things first is to get a good nutritional balance in your day to day plan. What you want to do is focus on foods that enhance your metabolism which ultimately set you internal fat burners onto auto pilot.

These foods are Kale, Broccoli and peppers (for the basic vegetables); Almonds, berries (mixed), citrus fruits, which offer fantastic snacks and craving breakers! Lean meats for good protein sources and oatmeal.

As far as exercise goes, variety is best. Mix up cardio with light weight training or even better body weight training exercises. As a tip its not how long you train for but how intense you train.

All the best and keep us posted on your progress!

I am sorry if I came across as rude. That was not my intention at all. But for someone who has been through all that, please forgive me if I say that I think you are setting yourself for a failure with that kind of an approach. It may work and you'll lose desired weight by June but then it is very likely you'll gain it back soon.

But I'll play. My advice would be for you to start slowly and stick to basics:

1. Start eating a bit less than you are now (leave something on the plate each time).
2. eat more protein (try and build all your meals around lean protein)
3. Eat more whole foods (especially vegetables) and cut down on processed food as much as you can.
4. Eat less sugar and carbs in general.
5. Never drink your calories.
6. Take...it...slowly...

Whatever you do, base your weight loss first on nutrition then on exercise (ie. don't try to lose weight primarily through exercise as that is a recipe for disaster).

Congrats on getting started. I was in the same boat recently and needed to change my life. I started working out and eating healthier, but it was hard. I then started using a fat burner to help jump start my results. I am now in love with the new me. I workout a few days a week, I have great energy now, and I am making better choices. I no longer am eating fast food, and I actually enjoy working out. if you are needing to start from scratch I recommend a fat burner to help kick start the new you! Best of luck.
