Watch out...she's a wild one!!!

Welcome to the forum, and I agree, don't eat too little, you end up loosing less in the end...it sounds strange but it really is true.
Keep it up!

I seem to be on a plateau this week as my weight is basically the same. Although I do notice a significant reduction in my gut. I know I am losing inches there, so I am not THAT concern with the lack of weight loss.

Definately going to have to start weight training in conjunction with my cardio now. Most likely will start some tonight after work to let my muscles rest over the weekend.

I bought a Trek 7200 hybrid last night for a self birthday present. Got it to get some Cardio in on the weekends when I can't get to the gym. Haven't rode a bike in years. After getting in the riding groove again I took it for a 6 mile ride through the town I live in which is not as flat as I thought it was. The last hill on the way home killed my legs. And my butt is sore from the seat. I am going to have to invest in a slightly wider one for a while.

Diet has pretty much stayed the same, except I added in a little more protein.

Bikinibound: Not too much of an american sports fan. I like to watch Soccer and Rugby more then anything else. I live very close to Madison, so Badger memorabilia is everywhere and if I said anything contrary to saying I like them, then I would probably be beaten to death with brats, beer, and cheese.

That's a great attitude... the scale doesn't seem to move when we think it should. I always notice changes in my body before the scale. Its great that you didn't get frustrated by its lack of movemnet and focused on your body changes:)

Great job on that bike ride... those bike seats are sooo small.. they can really hurt sometimes!

Keep up the great work and you'll see more changes coming soon ;)

:rotflmao: Yes, I think you would be!

It's good to lose inches even when you're not losing actual pounds. Good job on the eating and the addition of more protein--it will help--especially when you start weight training.

Congrats on your progress so far!!! Keep doin what your doin and I know you will reach your goals. That's amazing how much you grew in 2 years after high school. I also kind of did that, not as much as you though. I was 5'9'' through highschool, and then once it ended I shot up to 6'2'' within a couple years...

...

The very next day, I stopped drinking soda. I only drink water and Ice Tea now. I picked up fruits and vegetables, lean cuisine meals for my supper, fibre cereals, light yogurts and string cheese. I started membership at gym that my company owns, and have been using the treadmill (currently doing 3miles a day @ 4mph) and attending core fitness classes on tuesday and thursdays.

I am happy to report that in 5 weeks and 3 days I am down to 340lbs even for a net loss of 28lbs. Looking at these stories on this board, I am very motivated to keep going, and look forward to sharing my story and reading all of yours.

wow, I am so amazed with your determination and will to change! You've inspired me! This past week I was on vacation and fell back into the trap of unhealthy eating habits, but you are truly inspiring and I am very impressed with your large weight loss in 5 weeks! Its impressive! Congratulations on your hard work and persistance! Keep going, even during plateaus and it will continue to come off! Remember, plateaus dont last forever, so dont let them discourage you. You are awesome, wow, Congratulations again! You can do this! :)

Let's see....

For exercise this week, per day:

1 to 1.5 hours of cardio (Treadmill and New Bike)

30 mins of weights on Saturday morning - Going to try to keep this up for all next week. Also did 20 mins of threadmill while I was there. This was because I was biking my 8 laps this morning at 7am, when it started to rain and I was only on lap 3.

I have been averaging about 1800 calories intake a day using that free calculator that someone posted above. (Sorry forgot your name and I can't scroll down to page1 currently.)

Going to take a pict sometime today to get a reference for my before and after photo's and you might get to see it. For now, I just took a shot of me from my webcam and put it as my avatar. I had just come in from my bike ride this morning.

Thanks again for the support, have fun this weekend everyone.

It looks like you had an excellent week!

I was reluctant to take before pictures... but now that I've shrunk some I'm real glad I did.

Keep up the great work:)

Weekend Report: 081107-081207

Saturday – went out for my two mile bike ride around my neighborhood, got rained out about ½ ways through it and decided to hit the gym. Did about 25 minutes of more cardio to make up for my loss, then did about an hour worth of weights with my new routine.

On the way home from the gym, stopped by a buddies who was working on his Autocross setup for Sunday. I stuck around to help him replace his wheels, springs and put a rebuilt turbo back on. Mind you this was outside in now 95 degree weather and muggy from the rain quickly evaporating.

Diet remained much untouched except I splurged and got a grilled chicken/avocado/blue cheese salad from Culvers.

Sunday: Woke up, played on my computer a bit. Decided it was boring, and got suited up for a walk at the state park near my house. Walked around the lake there, took a picture for everyone to enjoy.

It’s about 4 miles around it. Sunny and 90 degrees out, I got a nice tan on my arms shoulder and head to prove it. I picked lunch up at Subway, which consisted of a 6 inch subway club with no dressing and a large ice tea.

Got home and made a nice cold multigrain penne with sun dried tomato pesto and some shrimp fried in extra virgin olive oil. I made huge batch of this for the week. Although I had a small bowl of it for supper and some water.

This week I am going to do weights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in addition to my cardio.

Caio!

Hey, sounds really good! The picture you took makes me want to go there.
We have a similar type of park here, just no lake.. thats where I went hiking yesterday.
Your meals seem reasonable and healthy.. you make something so simple sound so yummy. :)

Wow what a week.... Sorry for the lack of posts, work has been hectic.

Last week went as follows:

Sunday - off day
Monday - 45 minutes cardio/30 minutes Weights
Tuesday - 45 minutes Cardio
Wednesday - 45 minutes cardio/30 minutes Weights
Thursday - 45 minutes of Cardio
Friday - 45 minutes cardio/30 minutes Weights
Saturday - off day

It's been raining all week so I could not get my morning bike ride in these days and it's still raining this week.

I am on the diet plateau of hell these last few weeks, hovering in around 338-340 lbs. I don't know what to do about it but keep going and cross my fingers.

My diet has not changed really except I added in a protien bar on the days I am working out. Also shifted to some set lifting this week to change up from last week's preparation weightlifting.

Monday - Chest/Triceps
Tuesday - Legs
Wednesday - off
Thursday - Shoulders
Friday - Back/Biceps
Saturday - off
Sunday - off

Chest
Flat Bench Press 4 sets
Incline Hammer Strength Machine 2 sets
Dumbell Flyes 2 sets

Back
Deadlift 3 sets
Lat Pull down 3 sets
Seated Cable Row 2 sets

Biceps
Standing Barbell Curls 3 sets
Preacher Curls (with dumbells) 1 set

Triceps
Tricep Press down 2 sets
Dips (weighted) 2 sets

Legs
Squats 4 sets
Leg Extension 2 sets
Leg Curl 2 sets
Seated/Standing Calve Raises 5 sets total (2 or 3 sets each way)

Shoulders
Seated Military Press (with dumbells) 4 sets
Lateral Raises 3 sets
Shrugs 3 sets

So far my triceps are sore after my workout yesterday, completely under-used muscle group on me. Legs tonight. :drooling:

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do about this plateau situation?

Thanks,

Heretic
Harem Hottie.

Wow what a week.... Sorry for the lack of posts, work has been hectic.

I wondered where you were..lol Glad you're back.:)

I am on the diet plateau of hell these last few weeks, hovering in around 338-340 lbs. I don't know what to do about it but keep going and cross my fingers.

I know all about the plateau thing. I hit one about every 10-14lbs. The best thing to do is to increase your eating a bit and mix up your exercise--work out with more intensity, maybe throw in some interval training.

My diet has not changed really except I added in a protien bar on the days I am working out. Also shifted to some set lifting this week to change up from last week's preparation weightlifting.

Oh, and check out the Challenges section and sign up for the Halloween Challenge. I'm trying to get all my harem hotties in it!:jump:

Came in early to work to get some stuff done before the rush, had enough time to update this as well.

Let's see now.

Last week was pretty much the same as the previous week with the exception to my cardio. I tried some interval training as Bikini suggested by walking 3 minutes, running 2, walking 3, running 2, etc, etc for 30 minutes.

Followed my week rotation on weights, and boy was I sore! Last night I did tricep and chest, not nearly as sore as I was last week, just a couple places on my chest. I added a set this week to last week's weight sets.

Calories.

I have been averaging about 2300 calories a day now. Bought some fish and chicken this week for protien (blech do I hate fish) but I see it as a necessity more then anything else. Carrot snacks, dried fruits, yogurt for desserts.

I kinda pigged out as well this weekend and did no exercise besides a walk at the lake with my sister. Again trying to follow a suggestion on how to break this plateau. I weighed in at 338 this morning again, but I am kicking my butt at the gym this week with 1 hour cardio, 1 hour weights.

Hopefully I can update this more then once a week. Have massive projects at work. New Email system in pre-implementation stage, as well as a huge network storage/server virtualization going on. Keeps me pretty busy as of late.

Everyone have a great day/week depending on my next update!

If you don't like something, don't eat it - there's plenty of proteins out there in sources that you can enjoy... While it makes me crazy the 2 year old mentality of someone s aying they don't like something they haven't tried, if you've tried it - in various preparations, and don't like it - move on to someting else - food should be enjoyed...

Well cooked right it's palatable... I really only like Salmon and Talapia. I guess because it's not that oily.

Coming from Wisconsin we have friday night fish fry's in like every restuarant around, and Cod makes me gag.

lol. Besides, gotta try something new, tired of eating the same thing week to week.

But thanks for the advice and concern Maleficent.

Hope you break that plateau soon! I know how you feel--I've been on one for 2 weeks now. Sucks ass. I'm mixing up my eating and exercise so far to no avail. Maybe you could eat a litle bit more--an extra 100-200 cals per day. Might help. Most people see weight loss once they do that. Except me, of course! lol Good luck!:hug2:

HI Heretic,
came to say hi quick, we are on the same team in the Halloween Challenge!! Go Casper's Countdown!! Congrats on your weight loss so far, losing 30 lbs in such a short period of time is very impressive!!!
I had a plateau for 4 weeks, it nearly made me crazy. No matter what I did, or what I tried I was stuck at 166-167. So I decided to eat more and up my exercise at the same time. It worked, now I am losing an average 1- 1.5 lbs/week.
Hope you leave your plateau behind soon too!!
Next time you have a chance to log on, came and sign on the Casper's tread as well. Start weight is on Sat. but you can use Friday's as well.
Good luck and we will shed all these lbs!!
Hajni

*Tap, Tap* This thing still on? heh.

Well it's been a crazy couple months and I have really had no time to post anything substantial in this diary until now. Let's see, need to recap some, here goes.

I work in the gaming industry (gambling) as a Network Security Administrator. It is sometimes a boring, sometimes excting kind of job. Lately we have been installing new software and hardware at our facility which has prompted me to travel to Las Vegas to look at thier best practices for particular issues. For like a month straight, per week, I think I averaged about 2 trips from Wisconsin to Las Vegas and back again. Now it's somewhat calmed down here at work, so I have time to post again. For the record, living in hotels, even very nice Vegas ones, sucks.

I have been trying to eat as well as I could. I still have not touched soda since June 29th, and I think to date since then, I have had 2 beers, a guiness at a pub in vegas and a local one from a small brewery in Wisconsin on a taste test. As far as eating, even if I went out, I would only order like salmon, chicken, or small cuts of beef. Lots of fruit and veggies (Which are extremely expensive to buy in Vegas) and a lot of water and/or ice tea.

Now that I am home at my gym, not the exercise rooms at the hotels, progress is showing in more ways then I had imagined. I am down a whopping 45lbs since the start of my "change" on June 29th.

I have been doing the same as always, about an hour of weights followed by an actual 2 mile jog now off the treadmill. I have seen tremendous results in my arms, shoulder and chest as far as weights. Matter of fact last night, I was doing bench presses with two 80lb dumbells, with my reps to failure at two 110lb dumbells @ 5 reps. 220lb benchpressing. Wow. I haven't done that EVER. My triceps and biceps are getting huge as well (20" around my arm now.) Went out as a designated driver with my buddies last weekend and had a nice looking woman come up to me and say I had huge arms and could she feel them. I was all embarrassed, but how can you say no to that? Almost made me cry.

Still have some weight to lose, my stomach is still paunchy as is my chest, but apparently there is a lot of muscle under there I can't see, but want to.

Jogging has been helping a lot as well, although it's a love/hate relationship. I dread having to do it, have my lungs burn, the coughing afterwards, but after I get home and sit down to a meal, I feel terrific.

I think I am becoming addicted to working out! Dammit! :)

Look forward to more updates, not as far apart I hope!

Thanks goes out to my Halloween Challenge Casper partners for thier inspirational stories and everyone else that contribute to the site and are too numerous to name.

And Hajni for not killing me.
