Im 21 year old uni student, before university i was a very fit person weighing in approx 13 1/2 stone active person i used to go to the gym 5-6 times a week. However when i moved away from home to go to university i got glandular fever and it knocked the 6 out of me i started to gain weight and while i started to gain weight i decided i'll go to the gym by doing so i made myself even more ill and i couldnt do anything since being at university i went up to 18 1/2 stone in just 2 years i have put on 5 stone which is not healthy.
During the summer i exercised alot and i have gone down to 16 1/2 stone and im currently holding my weight well.
As a new years resolution and general motivation i want to be the person i was before university. In the summer i will be attending many charity cycle rides ranging from 5 miles to my longest 60 miles. The 60 mile ride isnt till september. Im currently not doing any real form of exercise and i eat quite well i tend to stay away from fast food and high sugar drinks and chocolate. In the next few days i will be enrolling into a local sports centre which allows me to use all the facilitys including swimming, gym and a list of classes, i will also be purchasing a new bike to do these charity cycle rides i will also use the bike to cycle to and from university and work which is approx 4-5 miles a day and also do some training as soon as my fitness levels go up.
Im just after some advice on how i can shed 3 stone in approx 3-4 months. The main problem would be what to eat as a student i have limited money and limited cooking experience although im not scared to try new things!
I need advice on what i should eat.
Currently i eat porridge/bowl of cereal for breakfast
sandwhich of some sort or pitta and homous or some extra light cream cheese and some fruit for lunch
dinner usually a meal consisting of chicken and i like a steak every now and again
for example today i had:
breakfast
38g pouch of porridge oats with semi skimmed milk
lunch
2 wholemeal pitta bread and extra light philli
dinner
rump steak with new potatoes and colesaw
so ideally i need some advice on what i should eat i will be going to the gym 4-5 times a week and swimming once a week also cycling to university and work everyday so exercise is not a bit problem seeing as i will get a personal trainer to go through a programme with me and get it adjusted accordingly.
