Hello all!

I am new, but yet i've been here before. I have been off and on on this forum lurking under a different username for awhile now, usually during my fleeting attempts at losing weight. However, that username contained part of my name in it and wasn't completely comfortable using that one anymore, as I plan on being on the site fairly frequently now. So i'm back as 'hoosier1', and back serious about weight loss. My wife and I began today on our journey to lose weight. Do I have a goal weight in my mind? Of course, but at the same time I need to realize and be thrilled with every pound I lose as a lose it, so at least to begin with I'm not putting a seemingly out of reach number in front of me otherwise, knowing myself, I will get too bummed and quit. Again. That's simply not an option. Yesterday was an awful day for me, for the first time in my life, the scale read a number with a 3 in front (300). My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon this last weekend, so it's been our long standing plan to being this today, however the fact it coincides with my fat milestone just makes my passion that much stronger. It's time to change. It's time to be thinner.

I hope to contribute alot to this forum whether through my story as I go, encouraging others, and any other way I can. I am going to try to keep up a diary (although i'm a terrible writer), and will be posting before pics shortly. Beware, i'm not attractive as a big boy!

Thanks in advance to everyone here, I know your support will be fantastic, and I hope mine to you will be the same.

Hey Hoosier1,

I'm glad that you are doing something about your weight. I've mention this before in other threads but do you know what the hardest part about weight loss is? Doing something about it.

Just some general tips;

- Drink at least 6 glasses of 8oz a day.

- When you get cravings, fulfill it. Eat what ever you want, BUT only enough to satisfy. THEN eat a healthy fruit/vegetable/ so that you at least backed that up with nutrients.

-When exercising add intensity to your workout routine so your body doesn't become used to it AND only spend the needed amount of calories per workout.

-Eat 5-6 MEALS a day. This way you train your body to have the fastest metabolism.

That's pretty much it. PLEASE don't hesitate to PM me if you have any questions.

Stay Healthy My Friends,

DAvid

Hoosier 1,

Good luck on reaching your goal. It sounds like we are approaching things with the same sort of idea. Not necessarily aiming for a particular number, but trying to making permanent changes in our lifestyle that will result with healthier a weight. I look forward to seeing your progress.
