Hi everyone,
So last week I went out and bought a new scale. I was using a Homedics brand scale that I have had for 5 or so years that is just the normal type of scale (the kind with the needle that spins clockwise when you step on it). Now I have a digital one that i got at Kmart made by a company called Produex. It also measures body fat, water, and muscle.
But anyway, when I got the new scale it weighed me 2 or 3 lbs less then the old one, and now the new one is weighing me about 5 lbs lower then the old one. I was 218 on the old one and 213.4 on the new one this morning. It has been consistantly like this all week where I see a decrease when using the new scale but not when using the old one (or very little).
I was just wondering if you think there are any problems with this? Or if one of them has a problem is it most likely the old one? I really like the new one because it is easier to read and the 10ths of a pound makes it nice to see even small amounts of progress.
Also, i don't really understand (or neccessarily trust) the bodyfat, water, and muscle measurements that the new one does. The main reason I don't like it is because I don't understand it. All 3 of those measurements are displayed in a %. But if you add all 3 of them together, it always equals approximately 110%. Does anyone have an explination for that? My bodyfat percent is extremely high so I am using this to kind of monitor progress on loosing that even though I know its probably the least accurate way to have bodyfat measured.
Thanks in advance for any input you have.
