New photos - 8 wks on new diet!

Here they are, exactly 8 weeks after starting my new food program as advised by Adam Campbell (fitness editor, Men's Fitness), using full body workouts with "autoregulation" a la Bill Hartman. I have dropped 11% bodyfat (still hanging around 13%), and 20 pounds (I weight 182). I am not done with this run by a long shot. This diet is very maintainable and healthy. The workout doesn't mess with my injuries... On the contrary, most of them (with the exception of my neck) have cleared up on this workout.

For those of you who interested in the whole thread on the diet, you can read the back story of how this all came about here. This post has the diet that I am on, and tons of follow up questions. Worth the read.

These were taken last Wednesday in my locker room. Without further ado...

On your right leg JP, is that muscle at the top or some medical condition?

If Muscle, then holy hell.

awesome dude, what are you measurements?

Have no idea for the most part. My OMRON is reading me at 13%. I attribute the higher number on the fact that I am 36 (age influences your final outcome). My weight at the time of those photos is 182. My height is 5'9". I couldn't tell you the other stats. My arms are probably 17" since I 'm back in shape, and that is just a guess based on past girth measurements. The main thing is that I am not worried about how much I can bench anymore (I've had shoulder surgery 4 times!), and I am not obsessed with my actual bodyfat %... I want to look good, keep my 6-pack, have lots of energy, and avoid injuries.

Thanks for the props guys! I'm pretty stoked with my success so far.

I see on the other thread that a couple women are trying this program. Is it appropriate for women as well?? Diet is my biggest obstacle - I would love to find something that works for me! :)

Congrats on your progress - that's awesome!!!!! :D

Basketlady, my diet is completely safe and effective for any gender. I also highly recommend it. My wife has dropped 10 pounds in the same period of time just eating slightly similar to my diet. If she followed it closer she would have probably seen the same results. The best part about it is how easy it is. I don't like to follow "plans"... It is easier with my busy life to just know what foods not to eat.

Panman, I have to post some before pictures. Nothing posed though. When I hit my worst, I refused to have any photos taken of me. I will find one and post it.

Found one from last Xmas. Ugh. You can't see just how fat I got, but you can really tell in my face!

Awesome JP. I think you have me beat everywhere but the abdominal area. You don't look like you would have kids and be married. You look the same age as me and my college buddies!!

BasketLady,

I also have been following the same diet since I first read about it.. almost 2-1/2 month back. Not that I have been able to follow it strictly.. I give in to my temptation of eating outside every weekend. So essentially this kind of diet along with weight training, I have seen some results. I have reduced 6 pounds of bodyfat, muscles in the abs and biceps are more defined than ever. Of course, nothing compared to JP's. But again I believe he deserves it since he must have been following it more religiously.

So I guess it works for us too :)

Thanks Daisy -- and congrats....great to know you still see results even if you are not following it strictly.

Hmmm..now to justify that chocolate IS a vegetable ;)

COOL! That's great to hear. Energywise I don't feel 36, but when I am sitting at the dinner table with all my kids and the house is chaos, after returning from work from a business I started over 11 years ago, it all starts to make me feel more like 50!

So G, where are those ab shots?

BTW, you really should try the "auto regulation" on your workouts. It has made a huge difference in the way I train!

What you've done is very impressive! You done good, man :) You look very balanced... you don't have freakish large arms and tiny little chicken legs like so many guys I see at the gym. You're proportional. Kudos!
