:eek Thank you for welcoming me, I am trying to work off my post baby weight and I dont know where to start. I am 5'2 and 135 lbs but I am working to get back to my post pregnancy weight of 110lbs. Please help!:)

Welcome! So where do you start?

I would suggest starting with the nutritional aspect, since that is the largest component of the fat loss equation. :)

At your weight, assuming there is no previous metabolic damage brought on from poor dieting and chronic undereating, a good caloric intake for weight loss for you would be around the neighborhood of 1600 per day.

How have you been eating?

Welcome here Annie! As posted above, in Wishes' welcoming post, small steps can be good, and keeping track is an excellent way of seeing where you might need to work on your habits, etc.

How have you been eating?

I must admit my eating habits in the past months has been horrible. I ate what I wanted when I wanted to and now I have to deal with the consequences. I have never dieted and always ate pretty healthy and always exersized for 1 1/2 hrs five days a week until I became pregnant and could no longer do anything but stay in bed per doctors orders. So, nutritionally I think I will be OK but how do I begin my workout regament? I am usually an all or nothing type of girl and I know I can not start with a vigorus workout I am only 4wks post partum. So where do I begin?

Have you been cleared to workout again?

Also, you seem to be putting a huge emphasis on the exercise portion of the equation, when in reality, your goals and successes are dictated by nutrition namely.

You say you will be ok nutritionally. If that is REALLY true, then working out is the easy part.

What are you exact goals?

Hi Annie,
Remember, you're only 4 wks post partum - docs generally clear you around 6 weeks.

Remember too that if you're nursing, you will need to eat more to maintain your milk supply. Those 25 pounds WILL come off - but don't try to rush it.

It's hard for you, your body and your baby.

Start slowly, eat well, and you will lose the extra pounds!

Thanks!

I guess everything you said is exactly what I need to hear. My issue is that I have always needed to workout to sort of clear my head. Now it must be limited and I just don't know where to begin. I will take your advice and go slow.

4 weeks post partum? hav eyou even stopped bleeding yet?

anyway, when you say "i think i might be okay nutritionally" you'd be surprised... your body changes quite a bit after a pregnancy as well (gosh don't i know it.)

post a typical day of wha tyou consider a "healthy" diet.

Welcome!

At 4 weeks post partum you need to be really carefull. Also, as someone else pointed out, if you are breastfeeding, you need extra calories.

Good luck!

Congrats!

Congratulations on both your new baby and your interest in regaining your shape!! Your weights sound exactly like mine before kids.
For me, there was a lot of water gain to shed after my baby was born. You may find that you will gradually lose that over the next little while.
Do you have a stroller or a front pack for your baby? You might start out with walking a bit...
Are you getting any sleep now that baby is born? ;)
