Hi my name is Misty and i am new to the site. i am 5ft4 and 215 lbs. i am trying to loose 80 lbs. My doctor told me to go on a 1500 calorie diet and walk 2 miles a day. I dont really know where to start so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi misty, and welcome. i truely believe that the best advice any one can give is to start slow and make small goals for yourself. Drink plenty of water. small goals are eaiser to achieve than big one. good luck and keep us informed on how you are doing, and don't be afraid to ask question or just yell when you are haveing a bad day.
 
Welcome! That is practically the same plan I'm following. 1200-1500 calories, and 2 miles a day. I started recently and lost 6 pounds so far - so I'm sure you'll do fine. This site is very supportive.
By the way, there is a section of the forum where you're supposed to introduce yourself in. This will probably end up getting moved over there.:D
 
Hey, Misty:) . What a pretty name:) . First of all, do not be scared. 80lb. can sound really scary, but always remember to do it one day at a time. Tomorrow I am closing on my 8th week of my weight loss. I started at 213.5lb and as of last week lost 26 lb. I don't wake up thinking "Oh, my Gosh! I have 50 more to loose!". I wake up thinking what can I do TODAY to make sure that I loose weight. Second of all, you should always remember that one of the most important thing is consistancy with your diet and exercise. I would suggest to start with cardio not less than 40-45 minutes per day 5-6 days a week. I am not talking just about walking. Walking will not do it. You have to keep you heart rate up and breake some sweat! Water intake is very important as well. You should drink half of your body weight in oz.When it comes to diet, I would suggest to cut all refine sugars and hard carbs: veggies, fruits and lean proteins are the best choice:) . I am sure you will get a lot of very helpful and useful information here and tones of support. Welcome to the club!:)
