new member on a journey

Hi everyone! I am on a journey. I got lap banded in January and am looking for an exercise routine to tone. I started the weight loss in October prior to being banded and have lost almost 60lbs. I like to walk. I have a gazelle, and just bought a bowflex sport. I would love someone to give me advice on an exercise program using these 3 things. My thighs, arms, and stomach are issues as the skin is getting lose. I have no ACL in my left knee and my right knee has a mild meniscal tear and some tendon strain, so I need things that won't totally irritate them. I'm game for any ideas! Thanks!

Im sorry but I dont know what lap banded is and I doubt many of us fitness heads know bar a few. Could you elaborate?

Lap banding is a dramatic surgical procedure that places a ring around the front of the stomach. It is limited to dangerously obese patients.

I don't know much about a Bowflex, but from the commercials it looks like it would help you to increase your muscle size and muscle tone which would tighten up much of that loose skin. As you are losing weight, your skin will loosen. That is unavoidable. You can tighten up the skin to some extent by increasing your muscle tone and muscle size to replace some of the volume of fat with muscle, but there is no way that your muscles will be as big as the fat was so depending on certain factors such as how fast you lose the fat and genetics, the loose skin will be hard to tighten short of surgery. I think the conventional wisdom is that through muscle building you can tighten some or even all of the loose skin at least in some people, but most people will need surgery to tighten up that loose skin.

Tony is right; you should see a physical therapist for recommendations on cardio exercises. I do not have an ACL in my right knee and maybe I am just downright lucky, but my right knee causes me absolutely no problems or pain whatsoever.

Depending on what your physical therapist recommends, I think you need something other than the Gazelle. On the infomercials, it looks like it would become boring after 15 minutes. Gyms have a much broader selection of cardio choices, including ellipticals, stationary bikes, and swimming, that may serve you better.
