hello people :seeya:

I'm a 5'11" male, almost 30 years old now. Currently 230 lbs. Have not been below 200 lbs in the last 10 years. In 2008 I went from 220 lbs @ new years to a low of 198 @ october. By Xmas I was at 215 or so and havent been able to get below 215 since :piggy:

I am relatively active, but you could class me as a couch potato. Lately Ive noticed being winded by just walking up 2 sets of stairs while packing somehting heavy. I do have a 8 month old lab which needs lots of excercise so now that winter is ending I should be able to get myself out of the house more with him.

My problem is I overeat, and eat at bad times of the day. Rarely do I go to bed without having a big bowl of cereal after 9pm. I know I will regret eating it after Im done, but that doesnt stop me. And Im not even hungry for it, just a boredom thing

hopefully in this forum I can find some help with my problems. thank you

Welcome to the forums! Have you tried finding an exercise routine you like? What about a friend you could walk/play casual sports with? These are two of my primary suggestions because they have kept me from over-eating!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

My advise to you is to keep a food diary, where you write EVERYTHING you eat up. Cut out all junk food, sodas, candy, chips, cookies, cakes and chocolates. Use portion size control, get used to having smaller portions.

Good luck!

I have trouble sticking to a routine. Last week I did a 6 mile hike with the dog, followed the next 2 days with 40 minute walks. Followed by sitting on the couch for 4 days. My wife doesnt like to come with me very often :)

Welcome. Reading your post I think you might be pushing too much and thats why you fail. I would start slower and work your way up. If you want your wife to work with you try something that can be fun also. Does she like to dance? If so, and you have the time and money you can buy classes for something slow at first like the waltz and work your way up to the tango. If you don't have the money for classes, buy a dvd and some music. First learn the moves then turn the music up. Once or twice a week will help you warm up for more intense actions.

I dont like to dance :)

Find a sport she'll play. If you have blacktop near you, try to get her to play 4-square. Anything really. Have you tried to get a friend to go with you? I walk alone and stuffs. Like, for example, today I walked for 2 hours and I played 2-square for about an hour or more.

I think those are some great suggestions so far! From personal experience working with clients, I find that having a journal where you write down your activity and diet is one of the keys to long-term success! Also, writing down your goals, why you want those goals, and keeping them where you will see them often can be a good motivator, especially if your goals have special meaning. For example, losing weight because you want to dance at your child's wedding is a much stronger motivator than losing weight because my doctor says I need to.

Good Luck!

Everything you said reminds me of myself. Well, except for the 8 month old lab - I ain't gots no aminals.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of relief here when you're bored. I would recommend reading through the sticky posts (you'll find a lot of good nutritional, exercise and health-related information there), looking through people's journals to get a good idea as to how other people are achieving their weight loss goals (and also to get to know the other members on the forum) and, if you TRULY want to waste time, read through the off-topic section - there's a lot of time wasting garbage in there that will keep you occupied.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck.
