Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, we tend to be a bit cautious around here when giving out advice surrounding injuries... We usually try to leave that to a professional that you can see on a one-on-one basis. The reason being that they can watch and evaluate you during exercise to see if you're doing the exercises safely and correctly and that they are appropriate for you. Are you seeing a physical therapist, chiro, or an exercise specialist of some kind who is qualified/trained to deal with injuries? The average personal trainer is only qualified/insured to deal with "apparently healthy individuals." Not to say that there aren't suitable PT's out there, just check into their qualifications and insurance. If they will not provide evidence of this for you, move on. I take mine with me to see each client, but at the least they should be able to get back to you in a short period of time.

That being said, are you able to get to a fitness center or community gym/pool? Activities that don't require you to put all of your weight on your legs would probably be recommended. A couple of things you could look into are deep water walking/running (no touching the bottom of the pool) or using an arm bike (you will often see people in wheelchairs using them for cardio). You would just have to ease into things gradually to avoid creating an upper body injury as well!

Aside from exercise, you can make a very big difference in weight loss through your daily diet... what are you doing right now in that department? Have things improved since your wife was pregnant?
