I am a 42 yo female/wife/mom who is really disgusted with how i have let my body go. I have ate crappy, and been lazy. I can't believe how much weight I have let myself gain. And I am ready to do something about it.
But I really need help in the diet dept. I just have such a hard time knowing what and what not to eat. When to eat this or that and what not to eat together. I am a person who gives up pretty easily so I need to know what i'm doing to avoid frustration.
Currently I am 130 lbs. which I have never weighed except when near giving birth. ugh! 5 ft tall and not a muscular person. I dont' gain muscle well at all. But cellulite is no stranger lately.
I would live to get rid of fat and gain muscle.
Ready to change my body!!!!!!!!!!!! :hurray:

Welcome! free hugs?
First calculate your BMR. cut that by about 500 calories.
never go below 1200. count your daily calories calories. Keep a food diary on the diary page to help you keep track and also for support. If you can try to walk a few times a week. this will get you started.

if you can't get your BMR PM me i will help you get it.

Note: I am not a doctor or an expert.

Well, I think a better idea is let's look at what you currently eat. I suggest most new members do a food diary for least a week. Try to put down other things like how you feel before eating (might target emotional eating), portion sizes, and if you happen to know, calories.

Really doesn't have to be that in depth, just honest. Every little bit. After a week, we can look at it and see what changes can be made. It's easier to look at what you are doing that try and change a bunch of things because we have different tastes, likes and dislikes. You don't have to throw out all the stuff you enjoy if it can be done in moderation or in a better way.

Welcome to the forum! Hugs are great and helps out a lot!

I am trying to learn to count calories too, as I have been counting points with WW's and I am noticing that I am under 1000 calories sometimes. So I am trying to change to counting calories instead of points. I am 5'4" and I weight 150.8 today. I need 1262 to 1650 calories a day for my age and weight and height according to what I can find out. But I would have to be very active to lose weight on that amount of calorie intake.

Good Luck to you!!

As everyone has said, creating a diary on here is a great start! You can write down what you eat, how much, when, and like Jericho said - how you feel! This will let YOU see what you eat, how much, when, and why! You should also keep track of how much water you're drinking, or other bevvies that you're ingesting during the day! Just that step can help you loads!

On top of that, there's some great suggestions that have been said. I'm new, and I haven't learned how to count calories, and I just figured out my BMR today! If you want to go that route, there are A LOT of great resources on here- people, posts, links, articles, etc. They can help you out and get you started!

If you're looking for change your diet, you might want to try setting a few little goals. Like for myself, I'm cutting down on portion sizes, and cutting out caffeine! Once I get that down, I'll set some new goals. I know personally if I try to change everything at once, I'd be as successful as the Titanic! So I am planning on making slow changes, integrated into my daily routine, so it'll become natural!

There are a lot of great healthy recipes, especially quick recipes! One thing that i find helpful when trying to eat better, is make sure I always have good healthy food in my fridge! It's when I don't that I slowly slide into ordering food, or eating out- and that's just bad!! Having healthy food that you can grab quickly is an excellent way to make sure you maintain a good diet!

Also, you mentioned you wanted to tone up. If you have specific areas that you're interested in, you may want to look up some exercises that specifically target those, and then incorporate them into your exercise routine! The most efficient workout is one that targets both cardio and resistance :)

This is a fabulous place! And I'm sure you'll get lots of help and encouragement! :)

I hope you start a diary so we can follow your progress and let you know how awesome you're doing :)

Hello, I am just starting this week at OneLifeFitness gym in eastern Virginia and starting to really get my health and fitness back on track after gaining 50 pounds from my pregnancy.
I am a 26 year old full time nurse trying to juggle long hours and lack of time. I work 12 hour shifts which turn into 14 hour shifts usually and it is sooo hard to fit in the 5 small meals that my personal trainer suggested on my work days.
I have heard of so many different diets, low carb high protein being the one everyone seems to recommend. Anyone have an idea of a bar or supplement drink low in cals and easily accessible for someone who lacks the time factor but wants to keep her metabolism up? Preferrably one not exorbitant in price.
Thanks!

Hi Lashe!
Welcome!!
You may want to start a diary about your fitness and diet- this way members can go there to help you out, encourage you, and tell you how awesome you're doing :)
