Hi! My name is Karen. I am here looking for support for weight loss. I have fluctuated all my life with my weight. I need support to lose the weight but also make the life changes that I need to keep it off. I bike to work and back, 10 miles round trip, April to December the past couple years. I walk a lot. My big thing is snacking and eating when I am stressed, frustrated, or just bored. The weight is affecting my back and I have back problems anyways that I go to the chiropractor for. I have been to lots of message boards for things like, quitting smoking and drinking, both of which I have done in the past and am still smoke free and sober, so I am comfortable in the forum settings and receiving advice from people. I need to make this change. I am 44 and not getting any younger and really want to get healthy and stay healthy before it affects anything else.

Hi Karen, it's good to have you here.

Well done on giving up the smoking and drinking! Both of those can be really tough to quit, so I dips me lid to you. (That's Aussie for "I take my hat off to you." ;))

Why don't you start a diary here? I find it really helpful to track my food every day. Er, I should say, in the past when I've successfully lost weight, I've found it helpful. Today is Day 1 for me with my latest (and last, I hope) attempt at weight loss.
