New Member Determine to Lose Weight

Hi everyone!

I was looking up info on weight loss and accidentally came across this forum, and I am happy I did!

Here is my story: I am a 47 year old mother of 3 and a nana! I have been gaining weight steadily for the past 6 years (from 118 lbs in 2002 to 145lbs today and I am only 5'5"). Two years ago I was diagnosed as hypothyroid and was put on thyroid medication, but I am still having trouble losing the weight. Two days ago, I looked at a picture of me taken on Thanksgiving Day and I am just sick by all the weight I have gained. Anyway, my youngest daughter is graduating from High School in May 2009 and I am going on a cruise with her for her graduation present and I would really like to get down to at least 125 lbs by then. So, need lots of help and encouragement!!! I did register on the Fitday.com website today and am going to start tracking everything I put in my mouth!

Anywho, I am glad to be here and just wanted to say hi to everyone. I look forward to learning all I can from all of you!!

Welcome aboard! If you haven't already done so, read the stickied threads in the various forums; they are an excellent source of info. :coolgleamA:

Thank you for your reply, Txsqlchick....yes, I have been reading all the stickied threads and they are a great big help!

And congratulations to you for losing over 57 lbs!! That is wonderful! I know I only have 20-25 lbs to lose, and some people think.."oh, that is nothing," but to me it is the hardest thing in the world right now!!! for every 5 pounds I lose, I end up gaining it back and then another pound (SCREAM!!)

Anyway, thanks for your reply and I wish you continued success on your journey!!

Welcome to all the new guys on this thread. I'm new too, I just started 0n the 7th of Dec. This is a great way to get support and advice. Good luck to everyone.

So sorry about your thyroid issue :( At the very least, you are within a normal BMI range already :) Tracking all calories definitely works, whenever I slack off of that, I plateau or gain, so I highly encourage it! Best wishes to you and congrats on being a nana!
