hi everyone i am new to the forums and currently sitting at 5'6 and 226 lbs. i have started going back to the gym last week and have been doing strictly cardio. About 50 minutes on the stationary bike and about 30 minutes on the eliptical. i haven't really gotten into a strict diet plan. the only things i have been doing is cutting down on my portions, not eating late at night and completely cutting off on sodas. what i want to know is if i am over doing it on the cardio and if i should be including some weight lifting exercises. i am strictly trying to lose weight, maybe back to my 200 lbs or 190 180 lbs zone so any tips would be greatly appreciated. ive been really enjoying reading up on all the threads and stickies on the boards but i really wanna get some personal tips:). thank you for reading my thread and wish me luck lol http://weight-loss.fitness.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

welcome. you have nothing to be embarassed about when going to the gym or going for a jog because everyone that goes to the gym are there for the exact same reasons you are, to stay healthy. and i also think its better to go exercising by yourself because there are less distractions. i wish you the best of luck and hopefully i can give you some encouragement to reach your goals lol.

Welcome and good luck to both of you! This site is a great support system...I come to it several times a day. Sometimes if I am tempted to eat something I know that I shouldn't, I will log on here and just start reading. There are so many great people and inspirational stories...after a few minutes my craving is gone, LOL!

If you read the stickies, they will answer many of the questions you may be having.
Good luck!

Hi,

I'm 19, in college, and looking to lose about 40lbs. I currently weigh 146lbs and I would like to go back to my regular weight of 104lbs by Feb. 1st.

I currently have a calorie intake of about 1600 per day and I burn off about 500 calories at the gym every day.

I'm looking for a weight loss buddy to help keep me on track and motivated - and I will do the same.
