Hi there!

I decided to join this community because in addition to having a very difficult time motivating myself, my support system at home also suffers the same problem.

I'm turning 22 in November, and I have gained (to the pound) 10 lbs. every year since I was 17 (170; 18, 180; 19, 190, etc.). So, not only is my goal to NOT weigh 220 lbs. by the time my birthday rolls around, I'd like to reverse the pattern.

Hopefully I can get something out of this community in addition to lending my support to other members trying to accomplish the same.

Cheers!

There's definitely a lot of motivated people here... you've come to the right place.

Welcome!

Take a look around, check out the stickied posts. Lots of great info there.

Welcome
You have come to the right place for support. It is very important to get it when we need it. It helps so much if the people you surround yourself with is on the same page as you. So this is a great place to vent get support and have fun with this process. We are all the same here that is what makes this work. You can do this and we are here when you need us. Take care Tina:party:

Hey there,
I'm new too.. and I'm turning 22 in December.. and I'm at 240.. its my all time high and it's killing me.. but now is the time for change! You can do this!! And I can understand the bad support system.. although my family is great, all my friends as sticks so they can't help me bc they don't understand.. What kind of diet are you planning on doing?

Well, I don't like to use the word "diet" because it implies something temporary; I want to overhaul my eating and exercising habits.

My grandmother lost 30 lbs. in a couple of months by shopping only around the perimeter of grocery stores -- fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, limited dairy and freshly baked multigrain breads. I figure I can start off that way for eating healthier.

As for exercise, I bought an ab lounge to help with abdominal workouts (because I have back problems, preventing me from doing the work on the floor). I'm aiming to start with 45 minutes of cardio every other day (M/W/F), with strength training on the opposite days (Tue/Thu); weekends will be my rest days.

It's just a start, though. It's hard to stay motivated and keep going - it's easy to just sit around and be lazy and order a pizza... I know I can do it, though, and so can you :)

The perimeter only works once you get past the side that has the booze and the bread. At least that's the way its laid out at a lot of the stores in my area. :smilielol5:

Good start to what you are doing though... and if you start getting discouraged, here's a good place to get that motivation going again!
