New Jersey Woman Wants to Weigh 1,000 Pounds

She's "not hurting anyone"?
Forget the obvious fact that she's hurting herself; she's hurting her children by taking their mother away.
How very, very, very irresponsible and selfish. Shame.

Seriously, no one should ever bring these people food. If they can't get up to get it themselves, then can wait until a week until enough fat comes off for them to eat! It's really sad how family members or friends don't encourage these people to lose weight.
Here's the competition:

Here's the competition:

^^^^^^^^^^ a quote from this article "According to Guinness World Records, Donna Simpson of New Jersey, USA, weighted 532 lb (241 kg; 38 st) when she delivered daughter Jacqueline - seting the world recorrd for the heaviest woman to give birth." so she is already in the book of records

Holyyyy Crap.. why would anyone want to be that fat .. thats just plain disgusting ..I think im going to be sick for the rest of the week.... 0.0 .. I honestly feel sorry for her... I dont think she realizes how hard its gonna be for her to lose all that weight ..

You know I get that what she's doing is not healthy and she's hurting herself and her kids, but calling her "gross", a "slob", "disgusting", is that really warranted? How many times has that rhetoric been aimed at just moderately fat people? I mean damn, it's been aimed at me a bunch of times and I just barely went over 200lbs. And all of the assumptions about her life like she MUST be on benefits and how she's going to cost the government oh so much money? Why is it because she's fat we automatically assume all of these negative things about her? Why is it so terrible that she is using services that her taxes (and let's be honest, if she makes 4k a month she pays a lot more in taxes than I do) helped to pay for?

All this thread, and in turn this article, is doing is reinforcing the negative stereotypes there are about fat people. I get that we all want to be thin, but that doesn't mean we have to have such a crappy attitude toward those people who are not on the same path we are.

This is kind of interesting.
Here's a psychologist and a nutritionist trying to figure her out.
Quite frankly, I think she's in it for the money, and even if she does die prematurely, her kid (kids?) will (hopefully) be taken care of. I know it's a horrible thing to say, but I think we all know which direction she's headed, down.... as in six feet. But, apparently she makes quite a bit of money doing what she does... that is.... eating and gaining weight, and showing off.

This news just saddens me.
Eventhough she's doing it deliberatly, she's proud of it,she's got a job from it to support her family etc, there must be something going on there. There must have been an incident which has effected her so greatly she puts herself through this each day.And I find that so saddening. She needs help. It's evenmore upsetting to hear that her boyfriend encourages it,and she feels 'he'd like it is I were bigger' it's clear to see that she's not doing it for herself or her pride.

At the risk of sounding harsh...........she should be sectioned. This has got to count as suicidal tendancies.

the way that the article came at the problem as one of the taxpayers is quite disguisting to me. the main issue here, and main amount of damage being done, is to herself and her children. I would argue moreso her children, as she clearly is taking the damage on herself.

that aside, it seems like this is maybe a way to get attention, along with an excuse for being obese maybe. it strikes me as almost like a "you say i'm fat? thats cause i want to be" kind of thing. instead of trying to lose weight (which is harder than gaining weight) and failing, she is turning it around to something that she may find more easily attainable - being obese.

just a thought though.
