Hi everyone I'm Lizz.
I've been hefty for quite a while, and I keep saying I am going to lose weight. But I am someone who prefers the quick method to anything. Weight loss takes time and I've never really been able to do it. I think a couple months to lose weight is too long, then a couple years later and still hefty I realize a couple months is really not that long. I'm went to a nutritionist once and it made a big difference. I lost around 20 pounds in one month, and that was just from watching what I ate. I'm guessing I way around 215 right now. My heaviest was around 250. I've got a 5 1/2 month old and I want to be able to keep up with him when he gets older.
I'm going to aim for around 135 or a size 8.

Welcome Lizz.

Yea, you've got to ditch that short-term mentality ASAP! If you don't ditch it, you're are setting yourself up for certain failure.

You might have some success, but it will most likely be temporary.

How do you plan on going about your weight loss?

What Steve said.

I was like you, when I was in my twenties I wanted to lose weight quickly. Also in my thirties, and over halfway into my forties!

The quick weight loss mentality will make losing all of your weight and keeping it off a lifelong challenge.

I finally realized this and have changed my lifestyle. I don't care if I lose a half a pound a month! As long as it's fat I am losing and it's done in a healthy way. This insures that I will not spend my remaining years as a fat man.

There is no easy way to do this. If it were easy, People wouldn't be getting increasingly fatter. Like Dr. Phil says, "Time to get real"

Start today, we are all here to help and support!

How I plan to lose it

Well I'm going to start watching what I eat again. I was really strict while pregnant and actually lost weight, once I had my baby I was 1 pound lighter than when I got pregnant and I could fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans within a couple days.
Once I had my son though I slacked off.

So first things first watch what I eat. I've done good for 3 days now and I've increased my water intake.

Second, I am a stay at home mom, which means I have plenty of time to go to the park and walk. I can walk all day long if I wanted to. So I am going to try and get up earlier enough before it hits the 90's or 100's outside and go walking. I've got an elliptical but it is a little noisy and I only find time to do that inside when my son is sleeping. Which of course wakes him up.

Howdy Lizz,
Welcome and gl to ya! Yaeh the best thing is set SMALL goals like when I 1st started I set my ticker for my 1st big goal of 199 I was 255 then I went for 175 then I gained and lost long storie lol well I have it set at 165 for my halloween goal then shooting for 145 MAYBE 140 but I am working on 165 for now.
I would buy a cuite pair of jeans at the 2nd hand store like 1 or 2 sizes small then work to fit into them then go buy another pair a size smaller and this really did the trick for me.
I am a size 13/14 and I have some 12's I am dieing to fit into lol.
Taking your lil one(congrats by the way) out for a stroll is awesome exersice I love walking and you'll see the weight melt away.Hope this helps some, have a gr8 weekend

Yes, any loss is a success, and you will have more successes if you break your big task in to smaller tasks. The best thing I heard was yesterday, "This process is long and requires dedication and the ability to fall and get back up again."

You know what to do. I hope the forum will help you hang on as it did me.

Thanks everyone. I've been doing good for a couple days now. I know it's only a couple of days but I have to start somewhere.
My heaviest weight was around 250, I didn't try to lose weight back then but I did. Now I am trying. I will try to get some pictures together post. Also I am going to go to the Doctor's office and get weighed since I don't own a scale.

Howdy Gl at the doctors office!I get those butterflies in my tummy everytime
I go into a doctors office, usually because I am preggers haha.
I hope you have a gr8 day and your doing good, tammy

Hi and welcome, Lizz!

You've come to the right place to help keep you on track!

One suggestion...you might want to consider buying a scale for your home so you can regularly weigh yourself without having to go to the doctor's office. Inexpensive scales can be purchased at WalMart, Target and other retailers.

I know before I had a scale, I was totally out of control and just guessing what my weight was on a day to day basis. I was shocked at my actual weight when I finally did weigh in. Having a scale at home and weighing every day helps to keep me on track and motivated.

I actually keep my scale in the kitchen. It's a good reminder everytime I step into the kitchen and see it! :rotflmao:
