new here

Hi I am new here and would like some suggestions on working out. I do the stairmaster mon-thurs for 15 mins and work a bit on my abs. Now is this too much what i am trying to do is lose some fat in my stomach and legs. I dont want to do weights for i fear that i will do them wrong and bulk up instead of slender down. any help i would appreciate.

good start!

I want to encourage you to stick with the StairMaster. First time I lasted about five minutes and thought I was going to die. Lately I've been doing 20 min at L13 using the "fatburner" profile four or five times a week. The results of the last six months are extraordinary! It has visibly toned my thighs. (That was not the goal. My wife was the one who noticed and then I noticed.) It burns that extra 250 calories per session, which is sweet too. What is really fun is pounding up two or three flights of stairs at work leaving my 20-30 something colleagues huffing and puffing while I wait at the top. Or outwalking my two 20-something daughters.
Yes, it's brutal, but sometimes I get that "high" that the runners talk about and it's helpful.
Does nothing for the abs except maybe help get the fat off them. But there are some simple routines for abs. Everyone wants to look like a Spartan, right? :)
Good luck!
Oh - forgot to mention I'm 56. And I'm not ready to go over any hill!

Welcome. Keep up the cardio but you can incorporate weight training without risk of becoming freakishly muscular (unless yoi also incorporate 'roids)
