Hello everyone :) I have struggled with my weight since I was ten or so. I am now 32 and finally mentally ready to lose the weight once and for all. I just need to wait for awhile before I kick start my plan....because I am currently pregnant with my third (and last) baby! I am 28 weeks and due mid July, so I won't be starting any intense exercise until 6 weeks after birth. That doesn't mean I can't eat healthier though! In the meantime....I just want to get to know all of you and hopefully connect with at least a few people who can offer guidance and support (and vice versa). I am from northern IL and have two other children, Jonathan almost 3, and Sarah almost 2!

Hi klebelle.

Welcome. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Although you say you don't want to start any intense exercise, exercise during pregnancy is a very good idea. It will help you tummy muscles get strong. Swimming is a good exercise to do while pregnant because the water holds the extra weight. Cleaning the house is also going to be very good exercise. Lots of windows to clean would be perfect.

There's also no reason why you couldn't start a healthy weight maintenance plan right now. (figure out your BMI, and your BMR - base metabolic rate using online calculators. After you've got your BMR, you work out your RMR which is BMR plus the activity factor. This is your maintenance calorie burn. Use google to find the calculators. Its very easy.

If you figure out your maintenance calorie intake and instead of eating as you usually do, change your foods over to healthy meals only and regular ones at that with no snacking. All of this will be much better for the baby as well. When mum eats well, the baby eats well and has optimum conditions for health.

If you start this now, while you are motivated, it will be easier after the baby is born when you will be exhausted and busy and so on. You've had babies before so you know how it goes.

If you agree, i'd recommend starting a food diary in the appropriate section.

Jonathan and Sarah are growing up with a mom who cares about her health. Because of you, they'll develop healthy habits for their future too! What a great mom. Congrats on your pregnancy ^_^

Welcome to the forum hun.

Thanks everyone for your nice welcome! I actually am exercising, just not intensely. I am going out weather permitting (because April was so rainy) usually twice a week to go on hikes for 1-2 miles, although it is getting harder because of the belly weight :) And of course, chasing 2 toddlers is exercise in itself along with cleaning of the house. I am actually losing weight this pregnancy, as I did with my other two until the end. My previous pregnancies I only gained 3 and 4 pounds respectively, and my babies were 9lbs 7oz, and 9lbs 8 oz. This pregnancy though I am still losing weight every week, usually at a rate of 1/2-1 lb per week lately, and I am not sure why I haven't gained an ounce back when in the past pregnancies I started gaining by this point. I am down 17 pounds total at 28 weeks into the pregnancy, and I really don't see myself going above pre-pregnancy weight by July 18th when they will induce (provided I don't have her before then). I also have a quite active job; I work as a nurse, and I am on my feet all day long most days walking up and down hallways.
I have thought of a weight loss journal, but probably won't really start it until I am off of work and have more time at home. I work full time, and right now, by the time I get home and then get the kids in bed, I am ready for bed myself and don't have much energy to do much else at this point.

Hey kelbelle, welcome to the forum and congrats on the 3rd pregnancy! You sound like a busy gal already, so starting some healthy eating changes now, before the 3rd little one comes along is a great idea! Have you taken a look around yet at some of the stickies? There is some great information there and if you have any questions, just ask away!
