Hi! I am a 21 year old college student looking to lose some weight.

I have been overweight for my whole life and have been on and off diets.
I have lost weight before and dieted down to 143, but bad habits came back and the weight snuck back on me.
I'm 5' 3" (well.. technically 5' 2" and 3/4, but shh). I weigh 170 right now, my highest for a while was 192. My goal is to get to 125. I have an hourglass shape, big hips/butt and chest, so I don't feel I need to get too small because I like my shape and so does my BF and many others. Still, I feel self-conscious all the time and this is more for my health.
I used to work out but I slacked off this school year and went back to really bad eating habits... worse than before I might add.
I miss eating healthy and working out - I was never a gym rat, but just going on the elliptical/treadmill for 40 min a day was all I needed to have more energy. It's AMAZING how great you feel when you cut out processed foods and start working out.

My goals are to cut out processed foods and start eating "clean". I previously did the accu-weight diet, but never went through transition or maintenance, and gained almost 30 back from making poor eating habits. I am going back on it and my goal is to transition and maintain. Maintenance is basically the way I want my lifestyle eating habits to be like - lots of fresh foods, protein - little sugar (I use honey), processed foods, "bad" fats, etc.

I am joining my mom's gym - I don't really need fancy equipment, I just like doing cardio and Callanetics at home. One of my marker goals this year is to do a pin-up girl costume for Halloween (I really love certain vintage fashions, but I don't bother with the weight I'm at).
Measurements: Chest - 43" - Waist - 32", Hips - 44"
I want to get to something like around 36, 26, 36 - so I will be tracking my measurements as well.

Anyway, it was nice sharing, wish everyone on this journey the best of luck!

welcome!

I'm brand new (today) as well. We can be newbies together.

It's REALLY tough to be good as a college student. A good trick is to join a athletic program offered by the school. I DIDN'T do this, and gained college weight. If I had a program to follow, things may have been different!!

Best of luck.. it's nice to have people to talk to about this!

I just joined as well but when I read your post I felt like you were describing me. I am a 20 year old college student, 5'3", 160, and I definitely have curves. I'd like to talk more so pm me if you want to talk :) Good luck.

Good luck CU!!!

Another thing to remember is when you dedicate yourself to exercise and a good diet, you have more energy and concentration for studies. You just have to get over that initial hump!!

Thank you feelflows, I'm hoping to have made a noticeable difference by the time I go back to school in the fall. Considering its summer I am trying to focus on the weight loss. Unfortunately I don't have a gym at home so thats going to be one challenge.

just remember, you don't need a gym to lose weight. eat healthy, burn more calories than you take in, and get 8 hours of sleep! keep active this summer.

if you eat right this summer you WILL lose weight. it's just about doing it. If you need any help or encouragement throughout the summer, don't hesitate to contact me!

hi! i am new here today. i am having a heck of time navigating through the threads so bear with me.
so far i think you are amazing people. so much spirit and determination.
i had been heavy all my life. i am now 58 but remember like yesterday what it was like as a heavy teen. i had reached my goal but am now putting the weight back on and i would like to lose 25 pounds. so far no luck. i have gained back 40 pounds, but i am setting goals one atttainable one at time. who knows, i might be happy at 25. i'll know when i get there. hope to get to meet all here.

Thank you, Im definitely adjusting my eating habits and I sleep plenty, I actually love working out at the gym so I guess thats why its most frustrating.. but I appreciate all the encouragement, its already helped. :)

rikki.. it seems that keeping it off is tougher than losing it!!! it really is a change of lifestyle to keep it off. I haven't figured that part out yet. Having wrestled and playing team sports my whole life, I pigged out and always was fit.. now that I don't do those things, the weight just flew on.. I need to change my lifestyle.
