Hey folks, new face (new gut?) here.

I'm Andy, i'm 22, and I hit the mark at 19 stone.

I can't honestly remember a time when I was thin, slim, or even at a healthy weight. I was fearlessly trudging into pubs and fast food places, without a thought in my head about calories or my health. I needed to wake up.
I even grew a beard soley to hide my double chin. I have a wardrobe full of "Fat guy" clothes, I havent bought a new piece of clothing in well over a year. I hate seeing photographs of myself, with my hips sticking out a mile, manboobs on show, or my chin flopping about.

The last few weeks, I did wake up. I tried Atkins, a million fad diets, starving myself, the usual headless chicken approach before.

Now i'm eating healthy, keeping track of my calories and exercising.
I'll never entertain the idea of a quick fix again. Slow and steady wins the race.

Hey Andy,

Welcome to the board! I was JUST like you. for me, the realization I needed to lose weight came when I got in the car, and put my seatbelt on. The cheststrap nested right in between my man-boobs haha... I just thought... wow, it's come to this.

I also grew out facial hair to hide the chin, and pictures made me miserable. I went to 3 weddings in the last year and a half, and only have a single picture.. sucks.

It's different now, I buckled down like you are doing. Counted my calories for intake, and just said... "I am making this commitment for the next year to lose weight"... nothing quick.. you can do. Start a blog diary on here to keep yourself honest, and keep reading/ posting. good luck

Andeh,

It sounds like in a few short (although I'm sure they didn't feel short) weeks you've come to the realization that most people take years or a lifetime to get to:

I'll never entertain the idea of a quick fix again. Slow and steady wins the race.

You're miles ahead of the game! Good luck and keep us posted!

Oh and if you haven't already, it might be a good idea to start a thread in the weight loss diary section.

Cheers,

P.
