Hello everyone. I just registered, and have been reading a few of the posts here. Seems like a good place with some good, balanced information (unlike a lot of online sites).
I figure I'll throw out a bit about me and maybe feel like jumping in at some point.
About 2 years ago I decided to get serious about losing weight and getting in shape. Over the course of a little over a year, I lost about 75 lbs, and then I sort of stalled out. A bunch of things contributed to the stall - personal life, business life, work, travel, holidays, stress ... you name it. I'm thrilled that I've been able to maintain my loss, but I really would like to lose 30-40 more lbs to be at my goal.
I don't follow a diet plan; instead over the last several years I've taken a good look at what I eat and how I eat and made some significant changes. I eat more whole foods, I try to eat more local foods, and I try to avoid packaged and processed foods as much as possible. I keep a much better eye on my portion sizes as well. It's amazing how much a serving of meat or pasta *really* is!
I exercise 3-4 times a week, a combination of strength training and HIIT cardio (I was working through the New Rules of Lifting fat burn program, but travel messed me up and I haven't started it over yet). I also have a very personal goal of wanting to be able to run in a 5k this fall, so I've been integrating more running (bleargh) into my workouts.
I just need to get out of the rut I've been in and ramp things up a little to knock out those last 30 or so lbs. I would REALLY like to have met my goal by the holidays this year and I think I can do it if I stay focused.
Or maybe I just need a drill sargeant to yell at me a lot!
Anyway, that's my story. I hope to say "hi" to more of you on the rest of the boards!
