Hey, I am new to this site and I hope to find great info here...

I am a 30 y/o single mom of three and I work FT EMS. I am very active doing alot of hiking, whitewater rafting, bike riding (fixing to do a 400 mile bike ride in May) and I work out several times a week. I am 5' 5" and weigh about 135lbs. I work o/w weights as well as do alot on the Eliptical machine trying to build up muscles in my legs. I have gotten w/a trainer and when he asked me what my goal was I told him I wanted to build muscle and tone, I wasn't too worried about weight beause I knew that by building muscle I was going to weigh more so what I weighed wasn't a big deal. he was blown away because he says 95% of women he trains wants to just loose weight. I am hopefully going to get into running as well. I think that too many people focus on what the scales say. It should be about how your clothes fit, how you feel about yourself and most importantly if you are healthy and have an active and healthy lifestyle. Anyway, enough about me and my opinions.

Hi, I am Steve :)

Amen to that, the number on the scale means so little.

I bet your trainer was surprised. Remember, building muscle and toning are too different things. Toning, as I know it, is losing the subcutaneous fat above the muscle to expose that "ripped" look. Building muscle requires a caloric surplus which will hinder toning, hence, work on one goal at a time.

I drive a jeep too.

I know that toning and building muscle are different and right now I am doing the muscle knowing it's better.

BTW, I have two Jeeps one being a wrangler...

That is hot....

my phone number is 484-

Haha, j/k

So does mine actually. Mine is rigged for off-roading. 4.5 inch lift, 33 inch mud terrain tires, fire extinguisher, CB, 4 off road lights, winch. I will have to put a pic of it in my album.
