Hi!

I admit I've been lurking around this site for the past month reading many of the posts, and after hitting a two week stall/gain in my weight loss efforts (I don't have a lot to lose, but it's still discouraging all the same) and a wake up call from my doctor that I need to lower my cholesterol (i'n a 25 year old female, and my total cholesterol is 240--eek), I think that this is the place I should be! Everyone seems incredibly friendly, which is a great thing! Anyway, I'm going to start a diary in that section with more information about myself, and I hope to hear some of your thoughts soon.:)

welcome to the forum - glad you found your way in here..

did your doctor give you any tips on lowering your cholesterol?

Hi Malificent! Thanks for the reply. My doctor gave me the standard tips for right now: absolutely NO smoking (sometimes I smoke socially), consistent exercise, avoid deep-friend foods, get enough sleep, and try to keep my stress levels down (I have a BIG problem with that). I should also pay more attention to the levels of cholesterols in food which I'm eating so for the first time, I'm not only checking calories and fat and protein, I'm looking at cholesterol, too! I write a long journal in the diary section introducing myself and my goals as well. I really want to avoid medications if I can help it!
