My name is Preston and I am 6'3" and almost 250 pounds. So heres a short intro as a kid my nickname was pudge because as a baby i looked like the Michelin tire man haha. I was in great shape till i was around 11 and it all started on November 16, 2005 thats right xbox 360 release date. I got really into video games and now i regret it. When i got into high school i weighed right around 170 and was 5'10" so i was in ok shape not the best and at the end of freshmen year i weighed around 180 so i decided first day of softmore year i was going to push my self to do the best i could in PE which worked GREAT for the firs semester i was around 6'1" at that time and was only around 155-160 but at the end of first semester my dad had a kidney transplant and i no longer went to school i did home schooling so i was constantly sitting doing home work then sitting and playing games. Now im 18 years old and have low self esteem. I would like to get to my ideal weight of 180 and actually feel comfortable walking around in public again. Another key motivation is a girl but thats another topic haha. So Thats my long short story of how i got to this point!
This may seem stupid - but one great way to feel more comfortable about walking around in public is to go out and walk around in public......
That's what I did...
When I was big - I was very big... You can imagine how big. I was 5ft3 and 40 pounds heavier than you.
Not only was all exercise (including walking) tiring - but people were not always nice to pass in the street... People can say unkind things to people as big as I was...
I went out and walked. On day 1 I walked about 0.6 of a mile... Then I increased it every day... I didnt care about how fast I went. I paused and had a rest if I wanted.
Pretty soon I was feeling good about the accomplishment and feeling increased stamina. I was able to walk further. This gave me the drive to improve the way that I was eating. Things improved with that too - day by day...
The big surprise was that people started noticing the "shrinking lady" and started chatting to me in the street and commenting on it.
Chatting to people is an art in itself - and the best way of getting to be able to do it comfortably is to take your courage in both hands and practice chatting to people. I am not saying - go right up now to this girl and ask her out... I am saying get used to chatting to people that you meet... it does get easier with time and then the idea of chatting to her will not be so daunting when you feel that the time is right.
You'll be suprised at just how fast the confidence comes as soon as the weight starts coming off : ) Just keep motivated and you'll accomplish great things in no time!
