New here...looking for tips

Hey everyone,

Just stumbled across this forum after first reading probably a dozen websites that were just elaborate commercials.

I'm a 25-year-old law student who is 5'9" and 177 lbs. Until about the age of 23, I'd always been very thin. Then, it seemed like overnight, I probably gained about 15 lbs. I had been a public school teacher for a few years and I think the weight gain was due to a changing metabolism coupled with eating way to much fast food and drinking too much on the weekends.

The final straw prompting me to lose weight was when I was out with some friends and a girl that I'd begun dating about a week ago. A mutual friend, who is from another country and speaks only a limited amount of English, said to me, "I was looking through your old photos on Facebook. You used to be very thin and sexy. You should lose weight." I think she meant well and maybe there was a bit of a language barrier there, but the comment stuck and stung.

I'd like to trim down some and get back to the low 160s. I'm so busy at school that I still find it hard to eat right (I'm always tempted to grab whatever is quick and available) and exercise (I'm always exhausted at the end of the day). Hopefully this website will provide some answers and a way to set up a realistic plan to drop about 15 lbs.

Looking forward to meeting you all and learning from you.

Yeah, when I got a job I found exercising after work was a chore and I hated it. So I put in effort to go before work. It's better to be tired at work, than tired at the gym was my thinking.

Go to bed a bit earlier and get up earlier and you can get in some exercise. It's pretty lame, but it's what needs to be done to fit in with your lifestyle.

Also, being busy is no excuse for not eating right! :D, everyone has SOME spare time in the day, use it wisely!
