Hi everyone!

I am a 5'8 male currently 160 lbs, and my highest weight has been 171 lbs. I am looking to be 145 lbs within 2 months, and I am trying to see if a support group will affect my progress. I have realized something though, diets do not work. You must make a lifestyle change in order to change yourself in the longterm. I plan to consistently report my weight whenever I can, and I am looking for a weight loss buddy!:boxing: Starting today sept 6th I am 160 lbs.
I look forward to seeing some of you around the forums :)

Being a male i wouldnt have thought you were overweight at all. I mean i do a fair bit of weight lifting so im fairly heavy for a female, and im 5'6" so my goal is 155. Being a guy i would have said 160 is a pretty good weight. Perhaps what you want to do is lift some weights to give yourself some definition and shape ?

I am dissatisfied with my body in terms of fat content, I do a fair amount of weight lifting (curling 40s :D) and some martial arts. One of my main motivations is health first, and break dancing second haha. It's difficult for me to lift my bodyweight in acrobatic fashions, so I want to drop some. Thanks for the response (I wish more did).

Sept 7th 159 lbs

well breakdancing should burn a few calories lol.
Curling 40 isnt bad, thats almost what im up too as well :D

Well today wasn't too bad, I ate 2 boca burger patties two slices of cheese and four pieces of bread, around 600 calories.

I weighed in and I am currently 157 lbs yippee lol

Sept 8th 157 lbs

Hi!

If you start a diary you'll probably get more answers. Was 600 calories all you ate all day??? I'm no expert but that's too low especially if your are lifting. Oh and yes diets do not work...well at least not for long term goals.

GL on your success and start a diary!!

eating 600cal a day most definatly isnt too good, you wont have enough protien and will loose muscle mass :O

Try upping it to about 1800 if you can a day

I can't up it that high, 1800 will not get me to my target weight in time :/ I will eat whenever I get pains of hunger, but if I don't have them I will stay from eating.

then expect to
a) stop loosing weight as your body goes into starvation mode
b) loose muscle mass as well as fat and be weak, tired, and look weedy
c) put the weight straight back on when you're done.

I respect your opinion because of your weight loss, but there are many physiological differences between people, especially between you and me.

1) I am a male: weight distribution, water retention, muscle building ability, and hormonal differences are just a few things that are different.
2) I am 16 therefore I still have to "fill in" as I become a full grown male
3) I have a strong exercise routine which I follow closely
4) I have committed to a lifestyle change, I WILL NEVER "BE DONE"
5) The restricted calories are for initial weight loss, I will ascertain my dv when I reach my target weight.
6) I have new motivation! Spite! lol
