Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum and i'm looking to loss weight! I'm a 17 year old boy (179 cm tall, 78 kilograms). I wouldn't say im obese or anything. The reason i really want to lose weight is for prom which is in about 2 month :$ and as well as to look good for the summer :D. I've started to go on light jogs a couple times a week as well as going swimming once a week but i'm not seeing any results.

I want to lose at least 5 kilograms in the 2 months before summer. I've been looking at insanity and thinking of starting that soon. does anyone have anything i should try?

I'll be on this forum quite a bit for at least the next two months, maybe even more! Look forward to meeting some new people on this forum! :)

Welcome to the forum.

Losing weight is all about the calorie balance. The calories that we burn using exercise and the calories that we eat and drink. If we burn more than we eat - we lose weight.

You mention exercise but you do not mention food. I fully appreciate how a 17 year old anticipating his prom - does not do the household shopping and does not choose the meals he eats. I think that it is important that you speak to your mother and discuss the fact that you would like to eat healthily in order to try to lose some weight.

It is important that you eat fruit and veg with lean proteins and that you eat food that is cooked in a healthy way. Some of us need to re-learn about appropriate portion sizes too. While your mother may be doing this - a lot of people gain weight because they eat food that does not follow these rules.

I would definitely keep up the swimming and jogging and also incorporate some other exercises too - to try to build up your muscles. This strategy is most likely to get you to the kind of figure that you are looking for... I havent done insanity so cannot comment on it.

Good luck with your project

Hello and welcome! As Omega said, it's actually very simple, it's the amount of calories you take in and how much you spend. First thing I'd do is find out as close as possible how many calories your taking in and how much your burning. There are lots of calculators for both calorie content of foods and how many calories you burn on the Internet to get you in the ball park. You can fine tune the figures to yourself later.

Remember one thing though, generally, fat in foods goes directly to be stored on the body, something you don't want. Also remember, a whole day of exercise can be wiped out by one careless meal.
