Hello, my name is Joshua Scott. It was my New Years Resolution to get in better shape and hopefully repair some of the damage ive done to my figure over the last few years. Ive lost around 34 pounds in these 3 months but there is still a lot im confused/need to know about. I started at 203 lbs. and am now down to 168, yet ive hit a point where im struggling with the hunger side of it all :banghead: Thats why im here, to learn from your exeriences and hopefully share some of my own as well.

Hey Eonz, welcome to the forum. Congrats on your weight loss! I lost 30 pounds myself in a little over 2 months. One thing that has helped me is really limiting my simple carb intake and increasing my complex carb intake - it seems that with the complex carbs I tend to keep that "full" feeling longer. Another thing that can help is eating smaller meals more frequently. Browse around the forum here too, I know there's lots of advice that people have given on this topic. Good luck!

Its weird isn't that after a couple of months we get hungry all of a sudden. I just wish i knew what that was all about.

I think if you start off with a good approach to meals, and if you are keeping a diary, you could just increase some things a little bit so that you are more satisfied and less likely to crash your diet.

Try keeping a food record in detail on the personal diary part of this forum in the diet and motviation section.

I see lots of people writing their food out and it often looks full of what i consider bad food and not much fruit and vegetables.

One diet program i know recommends at least 2 cups of vegetables a day and 2 pieces of fruit. And you can eat more if you are still hungry. These at least are not high in carobhydrates but i think that doesn't mean two cups of potatos.

have a look at this...

You'd have to buy or borrow the book if you want to get more detail but that list of foods given on that page gives you are good start to whats constitutes a fairly healthy diet.weightloss

That said, when i was trying to follow the diet, i found it a bit light on for calories too. But the book shows you how to increase the amount to suit you in an easy to calculate way.

for me though the more difficult part was that i am basically vegetarian and its not geared for that but it has good nutrition and information. Its chock full of good stuff. I Just wish there was a vegetarians version.

Hey Eonz, welcome and congrats on your weight loss so far!

Not sure what your current diet looks like, but some ways to help feel full longer are, as has already been mentioned, try to increase your complex carb intake and eat smaller meals more frequently. What has also worked for some people is to eat some (lean) protein with each meal and to drink more water throughout the day.

Have you every looked into the glycemic index and glycemic load? You should be able to find a wealth of information online. Basically, try to have mostly low glycemic index and low glycemic load foods (ie. complex carbs) in your daily diet. Lower glycemic index foods are digested and absorbed into the bloodstream more slowly than higher glycemic index foods. This slower release into the bloodstream helps to keep your blood sugar and insulin levels more stable between meals and snacks, making you feel less hungry.
