hi there! my name is liz, i am 25 years old and for the last six months i have been on a strict diet. at 5'9 i weighed 420 pounds (yikes!!!!) and through a low carb diet and fitness routine beginning at only 5 minutes and working up to 30 on a stair climber i dropped 120 pounds.
i currently weigh around 295 and have been stuck here for a while. i changed my routine and have been drinking a protein shake in the morning and then a big meal of vegetables and soy protein at night and this was working for a while but no longer. i have also increased my cardio routine to 1 hour per day and i am extremely frustrated that the scale will not move. i realize i have lost an immense amount of weight in a short time period and i wonder if i destroyed my metabolism in doing so. i still have a LOT to lose!! two days ago i started breaking up the big night time meal into 4 smaller ones plus a protein shake spaced 3 hours apart. i estimate i am getting around 700-1000 calories a day and at my weight i am burning probably around 700-1000 during an hour of fairly intense working out and light strength training, so the math is not adding up for me.
could anyone give any advice here? i have not lost any weight in the last 2 days of changing my fitness routine and diet, and i am getting very discouraged. i realize popular literature says its only possible to lose 1-2 pounds a week but i have demonstrated over the last half year that this simply is not the case, and i feel i should be dropping around 4-5 the way i exercise and eat (religiously with no cheating and no skipping workouts).
i came to this forum because i wanted 'real' answers, not the type of by the book clinical responses a doctor or nutritionist would give. i realize this may sound ignorant however i am in a bad mood lately because the scale simply will not move and i am literally working my ass off =) any suggestions?
