Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone can give me some weight loss tips. I am 24 years old and I am getting married in Sept. I am not fat but I am not happy with my weight. I just feel like I have such a fat stomach. I am 5'4 and weigh about 135lbs. I know thats not bad but I have a gut. It seems like as soon as I hit 24 and started birth control my metabolism came to a scratching halt. I am a very very active person. I am a hairdresser that works full time (in the evenings) I own two horses that I show at the regional level ( I ride 5-6 days a week) 3 times a week I clean 30 stalls and feed 30 horses and then 2-3 days a week I do hair out of the house for family and friends. I cut the lawn do all the house work. I am a super active person. I don't have time to go to the gym let alone take a walk because I am so tired. For example here is an average day.
5:30 wake up
6:15 arrive at barn clean stalls and feed
9:00 finish stalls start tacking horses up
10:30 finish horses
11:30 get home clean, laundry, cut grass
1:00 get ready for work
2:00 work
8:00 get off work
8:30- 10:30 extra hair

I guess my only huge fault is I don't get home early and eat late. I don't have a choice even if I pack dinner sometimes I don't have time to eat it until 8. I don't drink pop only water sometimes with crystal. I don't know what to do. Any advice.

Welcome to the community.

You don't have time to exercise, you say.

So what's the other side of the equation that you can control better?

Nutrition.

I'd start with that. Read through some of the stickies at the tops of the various sub-forums and get a feel for some changes you can make regarding your diet.

Adding 2 sessions of exericse per week would also give you a nice boost as well, assuming you can spare the time.

For instance, is that your schedule 7 days per week?

Do you mow the lawn every day?

I feel you on the not working out thing. I am the manager of a retail store and I am on my feet for at least 8 hours a day. When I finish the last thing I want to do is work out. I am working hard on improving this, but it is so hard.

Hi, I'm new to the forum too and new to weight loss. I have "suddenly" (between the last time I bought clothes and now!) gone up a dress size after a lifetime of (UK) size 12 - 14 (I'm 5" 8). It was such a shock not fitting into my usual sizes.

I have just had a week on my first "diet" ever and my biggest problem is remembering to eat fewer calories! I have always eaten healthily but that doesn't always mean low calories and when you are used to eating whatever you want, it is difficult to remind yourself every meal to think about what you are eating.

Also, now I'm getting older   I have noticed that my energy levels aren't what they used to be - there was a time that if I had been out to the shops or whatever and forgotten to get something, I would just go out again. Now it's a case of "oh it can wait until tomorrow!". A desk job/life doesn't help!

So, time for a change of lifestyle I suppose. Nip it in the bud and all that. I have no idea about fat units or points or various plans or anything, I am simply choosing lower calorie options at the moment - I have started to read food packets... I have to take my glasses to the supermarket! I have no idea what I weigh and am giving it a month before I weigh myself and get a weight loss ticker thingy in case I get depressed!

Friends tell me that it is easier the first time you try to lose weight... Is this a myth or fact? I suppose motivation has something to do with it.

Keep up the good work everyone - this is a great forum, I feel like I am part of a club!
