New here - desperate to get on the weight loss wagon!!

Hi everyone,
Hoping that this forum can give me some much needed support and motivation.
My weight has been creeping up and now my clothes are feeling tighter and I'm feeling thoroughly fed up!!
Going to take a look around at the site now - any tips for me?

i think i kid myself that i eat quite healthily but i forget about all the rubbish i eat and eating when i'm not hungry!
 
^ I'll add to the above, at least have an awareness of your calorie intake and what you need to eat (if you find calorie counting to be too much for you- I'm a calorie counter and it's the only thing that's ever worked for me). If you look up a BMR calculator and use it (in conjunction with some measure of activity), you should get a number that represents what you need to eat to stay the same weight. If you eat 500 calories less than that a day, you should lose a pound a week (in theory), and if 1000 less, two pounds (but you shouldn't eat less than that, or under 1200 if you're female, or 1800 if you're male. If you're a teenager, pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should exercise caution and probably see a doctor before undertaking a diet).
 
Oh, and given your last post, try writing down everything you put in your mouth for a week. I use a calorie counting program but a notepad will do it. Being more aware of what you're eating does wonders.
