New Here And I Hate Being Fat

Hi I'm new here. I have lost about 20 pounds over the last two years...but now I am kind of stuck. I weigh 168 and am 5'6. I hate that I am fat and that I can't seem to get thinner. I weight lift 3 times a week and do cardio as much as possible, but my knee problems sometimes make it hard. I also eat healthy most of the time. I think I have food allergies that are preventing me from loosing weight...sigh...gonna get tested for them this summer.

This picture that I am putting up now is of me this past summer, when I was a little bit heavier than I am now (I was about 175 then I think).

So people, here's another fat person trying to battle the bulge that doesn't seem to want to leave me alone.:(

Well, I see no one has commented...I'm in a weight loss forum and I still can't get responses...hehe...oh well...maybe if I ever progress.

I'll be changing my meal plan up and my workout to help me out...well, at least I hope that it helps!

Hi! sorry no one's responded quiet yet. This isnt' such a busy place over the weekend.

Anyways, Looks like you are doing great and I like the pic! Just keep going hun, you owe it to yourself!

let me know if you have any questions!

Hi there, I am new here too, and can undertand how you feel, I weigh 170lb at the moment having lost 5.5lb in the first week of my 'lifestyle' (refuse to call it a diet, those never work)

I am really into exercise and jog most mornings or do pilates, weight training or skipping (or a mixture) even with this exercise I managed to gain myself 4kg in a month. I was kind of in denial about my diet, but have faced the fact that I was making easy choices and snacking on the wrong food.

So that has brought me here, I hate being fat too, and my problem is that I am the only one that really cares as people don't see me as overweight even when I point it out.

But this decision has been a really good one for me and one I hope I can keep up with support..I want to get to the stage where I can treat myself and my family occaisionally without binging totally (another story)

Look forward to getting to know you.

Leslee

Hey, thanks for posting everyone.:)

I hope to loose something, but it is really hard on me. I don't know. Perhaps I am eating too little; yes, some people have that problem. Seems odd I know. Yes, I can be addicted to some bad foods, but I mostly stick to a very good diet of 1500 calories a day and then I will be trying to do a 3000 calorie day once a week to help my body as well. I also just switched up my weight lifting a bit so I hope that helps as well-a little change goes a long way (or so I have heard).

Well, it is a down day for me. I took my measurements today and nothing has really changed and I took them a month ago as well. Why this is sooo hard for me I wish I knew.

Hi!! Have you already started a diary? If not, totally start one, it gives you a place to put down your foods, exercises, how ya feel, and everyone can offer you really great advice. I've been here since December, love it, have lost 30 lbs so far, and still have about 60 to go...it gets discouraging, but trustme, it;ll happen for ya, it looks like your off to a fantastic start :)

Here are some tips from the article I wrote in my blog. If they don't help, you might look for food alergy/insulin resistence check ups, though they are super expensive.

Here are the Top 10 Ways to Lose Weight, Keep It off and Be Healthy in General

1. Avoid sugary and starchy foods. Starch is just complex sugar. Sugar, when it enters your bloodstream, soon turns into bodyfat. Blood sugar level spikes lead to insulin release. Insulin, in turn, transports the blood sugar to the fat deposits. This leads to a blood sugar level drop which means that you not only instantly gain fat, but become hungry again. A vicious cycle.

2. Eat green veggies. They are good antioxidants, plus they fill you up and are low in calories.

3. Eat good fats. The kind of fats found in Fish Oil, Omega-3's, are essential to you organism. Yet, our diet is practically devoid of these nutrients. This is a shame really, because the good fats in fish oil have many benefits. They aid in fatloss, help fight depression, improve skin condition, aid the function of the brain, prevent coronary desease and more. So take your fish oil capsules. At least 1 g a day is advisable.

4. Take your vitamin C's. 1 g a day is a good dosage.

5. Keep a food and workout log. Note how much food you ingest and how much exercise you do. Track your progress and adjust accordingly. If for example, after a certain two-week period you have stopped losing weight, either decrease your calorie intake, increase your activity level or do both. Make sure not to go too low on the calories, because this will eventually result in a weight loss stall. Instead, move more.

6. Do not drink anything that has calories in it. No soda pop, no fruit juice. Limit you alcohol consumption - these are empty extra calories. And no diet coke for that matter. The artificial sweeteners found in it send the same signals to your body as sugar.

7. Drink more water. Water is the main ingredient of your body. Drinking lots of water will make your body NOT hold excessive amount of water. Plus, water speeds up fatloss and is instrumental in the elimination of toxins.

8. Do some sort of cardio workout. You can do long distance running or walking, if these are your favorite forms of aerobic exercise, but some form of interval trainging, hill sprinting, jump rope, or a sport such as soccer, basketball, boxing or martial arts are much more effective. Anything that will make you huff and puff is good for you.

9. Weight train. Exercising your muscles while dieting will help you keep your lean body mass. This means a firmer, harder, less jiggly and more athletic physique. You can be 120 pounds and super soft by just starving yourself to this bodyweight or 125 pounds and actually thinner, wearing a smaller size jeans, with lean and hard legs and arms, thanks to weight training.

10. Increase your activity level. If you can sit instead of laying in bed, do it. If you can stand up, instead of sitting, do it. If you can walk around, instead of just standing, do it. Find ways to move more. Add yoga or streching sessions that will help you recover more and burn extra calories.

You are looking good so far! It will come for you no worries. To momtotwo, I have the absolute same problem with people not thinking that I need to lose weight, and I find it really frustrating. I know though when I am fit, they will be able to see more :)

Yes it is really frustrating when no one really thinks you need to lose weight, but i just think they have got used to me like this....

Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged...remember we didn't gain this weight overnight;)

Hi, I'm new around here too. Your doing all the right things and making some good choices, maybe your body is just getting used to what your doing. When I stall out and change things up, either more cardio...hit the weights harder or sometimes I throw in a couple days of curcuit training. I also mess with my calorie intake and will drop it to around 1000 one day and the next I'll jump it up to 1600 and then back too my 1200. To me it's like when you think somethings broken and you shake it or even give it a swift kick...it jars something loose. Your doing great, it just takes time...hang in there.

Starling2003 - You can do this!!!!!!!

Hey guys!! I read hawgdaddy1's:) posting & I remembered something a very intelligent man once said to me after I said I'd 'failed' at quitting smoking...

"The only person who fails, is the one that never started."

Everyone should feel very proud of themselves for having the courage to admitting they have a problem & changing their behavour. :)

By the way .....I did succeed at giving up smoking 9 years ago...haven't touched one since - I had attempted to quit at least 5 times previous to this! ;)

It's one of the hardest things to do - changing a habit, but as success has shown in the past with many people on this forum, you CAN DO IT!!

:D GO FOR IT - you're worth it & deserve it !:D

i CaN i WiLL,

this is a fantastic post. I always remind myself of the following. If I try, I can either win or lose. On the other hand, If I don't try, I surely ain't going to win...

Cheers,
