Hi All,

Signing up because I need some help in my eating habits. The year before last, I followed a diet plan from Dr. Bernstein's guide, and lost 20 lbs. in 3 weeks.

I stayed on the plan, for 6 weeks. Only lost the original 20 lbs. So, that in itself taught me that eating the right foods, in the right portions alone, can control my weight, and drop the pounds. Horaay for me. However, with the inability to change my plan to something with variety, and the fact that I was choking/gagging on eating the same food, day in, day out, also taught me that I can live on one meal a day (just the fruit!) :blush5:


However, now I have twin baby daughters, and a reason to become healthy, and basically, the (new) desire to learn how to eat better, so that I can teach them to eat properly.


About myself:
  • Married
  • Parent (4 kids)
  • Fat (60 - 70 lbs overweight)
  • 6'0" tall, BMI of 35%, s/b 25% to be in the upper limit of the healthy range
  • Commuter (3 hrs a day)
  • Drinker (probably because of the above :) )

That's me in a nut shell. Recently accomplished something professionally in my life, which has had me stressed beyond belief, and therefore, drinking 2-3 beers or stiff drinks every night, so that I could sleep. Else, I'd be awoke in cold sweats, and unable to sleep. This had lasted for about the last 18 months, and I feel, is now behind me. (i.e. not an alcoholic)

However, I am married, so the drinking issue doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon. :p

So, I have a ton of questions, and I'll be annoying everybody in the forums soon enough. But there's just a metric shit-load of stickies all over the place for newbs to read, so it'll probably be a month before I get to ask any questions.

Oh, and what's a ticker?
 
Hello, and welcome to the forum! I guess you're busy reading all the stickies and stuff around here right now, but I thought I'd throw a quick 'Hello' in! :waving:

In regards to your question, a ticker is a little image which let's you display your weight loss so far, or how much you still have to lose, depending on what you prefer. Like the one in my signature. I got mine from here: , you can customize it and everything. It's just a little visual reminder of how far you have already come! :)

hi welcome to the forum , i am new here too so i don't know much about anything but i do you what a ticker is :) it is the little thingy that every one have in their signature ( i have one too) to keep track of the weight they've lost if you want one you can click on my ticker and it will lead you to a website where you can make your own. :)
 
Oh cool! I didn't realize they finally got shit-load figured out in metric. Fantastic! :biggrinjester:

You will find that when you start getting the weight off, your tolerance level for alcohol will begin to get lower. Ask me how I know! Go on, ask! hehe
