New Guy

Hey, all. I am 18 years old. I'm 6'1" and weigh 195. I have never been fat, but I've never been skinny either. I've decided that I want to improve myself. My belly is a little rounded my chest has a little to be desired. I've never really done hard-core workouts before, but I joined the local YMCA today with my buddy (who is ripped) and I hope to get a good start. Is there anywhere I should start? What kind of exercises should I start with? With weights, do I do high rep-low weight or high wight and low rep...cartios? I'm totally new to this whole thing and all I want is to be noticeabley toned. I know it will take a lot of hard work, but I am very determined and like I said, I'm about as green as they come so I have no idea what I'm doing.

Welcome. Read through the stickies. Just because your friend is ripped, doesnt mean he can get you ripped. Congrats on getting started.

If you can spring the cash, a personal trainer would be a good first step to get you started and educated! (And, I am not a personal trainer).
