Hey all, I'm Ben. I'm 27 years old, 6'0" 228.6 lb, and wanting to get to atleast 195. I know I have quite a way to go, but I know the things that I need to change:

1) Stop getting tempted by those dollar menus at fast food places, and learn to friggin grocery shop more efficiently.

2) I JUST bought me a bike on craigslist that I plan on using to commute to work instead of driving.

3) I have a gym membership I have not used for months. I WILL start using it.

4) The hardest one of all is the many beers I drink when I go out with friends on the weekends...I'm not going to kid myself. I am still going to have a couple here and there....but make a limit of no more than 2 in a given day, and 4 in a given week. I know I should cut it out entirely, but microbrew pubs are where I hangout and I'd hate to deprive myself good beer.

I made a little ticker thingy, but can't find how to apply it to my signature. Any help doing so would be appreciated. Also any weight loss tips for me based on my goals or anything I've just typed would be appreciated.
 
Hey Ben! I'm pretty new here too, and I wanna say congratulations on joining and getting in such a positive mindset! It's awesome that you have solid goals to follow. I'd try to give you some advice, but honestly, it sounds like you already know what you're doing wrong and you know how you're going to fix it.
Try starting a journal on the diary thread to track your progress. It's really helpful to look back at how your diet has changed, and it makes mini goals easier to stick with.

Oh, I hate the dollar menus...they're evil..hahaha. Good luck with your weight loss and welcome to the forum!
 
Honestly it's not THAT far of a way to go. Heck I started at 300 :) And I was 18 years old male same height. hehe. But you can do it.

Eat healthy. You sound intelligent and probably know what that entails.

Also: Permanent changes create permanent changes. Do not "diet" expecting to ever not do so. You WILL gain it back.

If you go to the "User CP" area and click on "signature" then paste the code into the signature window that should work. :) Hope that helps.

Hey Ben,

Good to hear that you have put yourself into this group of people who are doing similar things.

I think the best advice I can give you is to start only ONE powerful habit per month and stick to it.

The one habit I would suggest to you is to eat less calories than you body needs everyday. Do you know how to do that?
