Hi, I joined over a month ago. I have been trying to get back into the swing of things. About a year ago..I moved with my wife to canada from down south(virginia). I use to go to the gym/ran outside 4-5 days a week and I worked a active job. Since moving here I have gained about 75 lbs. I don't go to the gym I haven't ran in I don't know how long. I also quit smoking on december of 08 at the same time I moved. And I use to only drink water back home. When I moved for some reason I switched to soda. Well over the past few months we have put together a home gym. A Treadmill and a elliptical. I am trying to get into the habit of using them daily again. I am also going to be purchasing a bicycle in the next week to try and use a few days. And eventually get back to running. I want to do a marathon this time next year. I am hoping to use this forum as a way of keeping track of my goals and to keep up with them. I am trying to get back in shape and actually hopefully better than I was a year ago. I've lost about 8 lbs slowly. I am 28 male 5'11 250lbs.

A lot of us men think that losing weight is about burning it off by running and doing weights. These things assist in losing weight and increasing our metabolism, but the weight is lost primarily by eating under budget. This may sound really distasteful to you (no pun in intended), but getting this aspect under control will allow you to run your marathon.

Figure out how many calories your body needs and eat a few hundred calories less than that. The beauty if this system is that your body can lose weight on its own without you busting your neck.

Welcome!

A home gym is quite an asset, I would kill for one (not literally haha). Like said, weight loss is primarily diet so don't put too much focus in exercise. You want to do things like cut sugary drinks and try and limit calories to a healthy interval.

Best of luck to you!

We'll I've already cut fast foods/soda/alcohol. And we are eating alot of steamed/baked chicken and veggies. The home gym wasn't my idea. We bought the treadmill used..but is basically new..was an awesome deal. The ellipitical we looked into for awhile. I put most of the weight on cause I wasn't use to all the snow. We're I am from it maybe snows like once a year maybe. So I just got lazy. I use to run daily before I moved here. Trying to get into it again. And I only drink water and oj.
