New guy on the block

Hello everyone!
I'm a 30 year old male from Michigan. I have been overweight nearly all of my life. For the first time, I'm making a concentrated effort to permanently follow a healthy diet and implement an active lifestyle. :hurray:
I'm beginning the third week of my weight loss program, and I found these forums while looking for some inspiration stories and before-and-after photos. As I read some of the threads in the forum, I came to realize that this site had the potential to be a powerful part of my weight loss motivational base. I hope to be able to pick up information and inspiration from the fellow members, and eventually perhaps be able to help others as well.
As far as my weight loss plan is concerned, here are the specifics:

Age: 30
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 0"
Starting weight: 345 lbs
Week #1 weigh-in: 342 lbs
Week #2 weigh-in: 336.25 lbs

My goal is to get to 200 lbs. I hope to reach that goal in one year (52 weeks). I will allow myself flexibility as I approach that goal in terms of how I modify my intake and workout regimen. Currently, I am averaging just over 1300 calories per day, with no days below 1100 calories and a few days that were just over 1600 calories. I am up to doing one hour of walking at 3.5 mph, which I am doing four times per week. Also, I am doing 30 minutes of isolated lifting twice per week.

I know this post was a bit long, but I figured I'd get my information and details out there so if anyone came across this and wanted to give feedback they'd have a bit to work with. I look forward to sharing my successes and failures with everyone (though hopefully not many of the latter) and reading about your journies as well!

Hi there unrecognizeable - welcome to the site and congrats on your first three weeks.. seems like you are off to a great start!

:hurray::waving:

heya,
welcome to the forum! your off to a great start, i'd suggest reading the stickies in regards to nutrition, there's lots of useful info...and if its support your looking for your in the right place because we're all on the same journey. i started at 350 and now at 322 and taking it one day at a time. i found the forum at the right time and have stuck with it since. i'd suggest exploring coz there's stuff like challenges, clubs and diaries which are really useful because you can chart down what you eat/exercise daily, plus look into others diaries to see what they are upto.

wishing you all the best in your journey xoxo:seeya:

Hey there, I tried responding to your message but it won't let me, I guess I haven't been a member long enough or something. I'm doing great and will message you back when I can! Hope you're doing awesome as well =)

Just wanted to say a huge welcome and I truly hope you get to meet your goals, of course you will.

You have given yourself some good time to work hard, if you haven't already done so, set up a diary, I don't know about others but I find things like that really useful, especially the tracker, seeing my weight comes down of course makes me want to keep it down. Writing what I eat, how much I exercise and keeping a track of how things are going, brilliant.

Break it down into chunks, small goals, see the weight being chipped right down. Well done for joining and grabbing support, its a great start.

looks like youre off to a great start im new here to and its a great board with lots of support. im from michigan too(springlake). what part of michigan are you from? good luck.
