New Guy Introduction

Hi, everybody. I'm 26 years old, 380-ish as of this morning, and 6 feet 4 inches tall. I'm tired of being so fat. It seems that I've been overweight pretty much my entire life. I hit 250 in the 6th grade and never looked back. I lost a ton of weight in my early 20's by busting my butt in the gym and cutting out some snacks and sweets. I got down to about 280 and I was strong as an ox. However, life happened and over the years I've gained back all of the fat that I lost. So now I'm back, to do it all over again.

My biggest problem, I think, is dinner. I like to eat really big portions of food, and dinner is usually my worst. I'm not a big fan of sweets or desserts, just 3 times as much food as I should be eating. So that's my 1st goal, to shoot for normal portions of food. Tomorrow I'm starting my weight training program, and I'll be starting a journal on here as well, to track my progress.

sounds like ya got a good plan going there, portion controll is a hard issue to deal with, that was my main problem too!
I always ate fairly healthy justwaaaaaaaaaaay to much!!
You are a big guy 6'4"........whats yer goal weight??

Welcome to the WLF and GOOD for you for starting this journey!!

I think learning what an actual portion looked like was one of the hardest things I had to learn. You mean an ENTIRE can of pringles is NOT a single serving? Who Knew? ;)

The good news is that all pounds come off the same way, one at a time. You CAN lose this weight.

Glad to hear you'll be starting a journal.

First off I'd like to welcome you to the forum. I hope you find exactly what you need here. I know I did. You have a long journey ahead of you, but you can do this. Self discipline has always been key for me. I made myself to the the gym. I made myself eat healthier. I made myself healthier. I'm sure you could do the same.

Hi Iron_Turtle! I'm new here myself, but joining here was one of the best choices I've ever made. Only having been here for a couple days, I am so motivated and I feel like I'm not being judged (which is a new thing for me). I'm sure that you can do it. Portion sizes are a problem for me, but I'm slowly getting better..Good luck with everything!
 
Hi Iron Turtle- I totally hear ya about dinner. Late night snacking is also a prob for me. Glad to hear you are starting a journal- it works. Good luck.
