New guy here!

Hi everyone!

I have been looking for a forum since I could use some outside motivation at times as well as help with what's going on. A little history.... I am 37, 6'-2" and weighed 325 on January 9th, 2013. As of today I am down to 285.4. I started weight watchers on the 9th (didn't join, my wife's friend is doing it and she's giving us the info). After 2 months of getting the diet down and learning how to cook better we joined our local YMCA, it's 5 minutes from the house and we have a family of 5 so the kids have things to do there as well. I am up to 50 min on the eliptical machine 6 days a week and as of last Thursday I started to doing full upper body weight lifting 3 days a week. Doing lite weights with high reps. Exercise is now like a drug..... where food used to be! Last year at 36 I was put on heart medication, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and was borderline diabetic. As of 3/29 that is all gone and I am off the meds (goal 1). Goal number 2 is reach 225 lbs. I am determined to hit that number on or before 1/9/14 so any help or information you have it would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum.

Well done on losing about 40 pounds so far this year. That is a brilliant accomplishment. Getting off the medication is a stunning milestone - and it is wonderful that you have achieved it already.

It is great that you are exercising consistently. Between that and the healthy eating - you are really likely to hit your next milestone in good time if you keep on doing what you are doing...

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
