Hi people...I'm starting out this week on my lifestyle change. I joined a gym last week, and I'm cutting back on "White" foods (foods w/refined sugar, flour, etc.)

My main plan is to make sure I eat a piece of baked or broiled meat, mainly chicken or fish, sticking to vegetables, green and leafy mainly, and a low GI Carb foods such as legumes.

My plan is to work out at the gym at least 3-5 times a week, focusing on cardio and some light strength training (for now). I'll focus more on additional strength training as I slim down.

I know this will be a struggle, but I have GOT to do this. Any advice would be appreciated!

it shouldn't be a struggle -don't look at it as a diet - and go for a lifestyle change...

Spend A LOT of time reading the stickied threads aound the forum -there' a lot of good info to put together a more reasonable plan that you can stick with...

Go to nutrition, then move on to on topic...

I agree. The best thing to do is NOT DIET, just change your life. And watch out with the gym. If you do to much to fast you'll just quit. I went to the gym 5 times a week and lost 60 pounds. I got burnt out, I quit going and eventually gained 70 pounds. Good luck!
